Announcement   This little ETSY shop won't be little anymore. I've been renovating it to make room for my new passion which is ocean jasper. Also thought I'd break the inventory into five categories. The first will be ocean jasper, the second multiple gems & jewels, number three will be a huge mix of all good things on SALE ($25 tops), the fourth is seashells and seashore and the fifth is gem stones.

I have a simple Kodak edit program. One of the items is special effects and I LOVE the one that puts a graphic spinon the photo. Soooo, when you see one you'll know how I got it.

My Love Affair with Ocean Jasper

Ocean Jasper, aka Orbicular Jasper was discovered in 2001. It has been located in only one small place in the world, despite many attempts to find it elsewhere.
It was mined in the upper Northwest corner of Madagascar (our world’s 4th largest island) off the coast of the Mozambique channel where it meets the Indian Ocean. From 2001 to 2006 the supply was totally depleted.
The mining of this rare precious stone was quite a feat. Access to the craggy shoreline was available only by small boat. Ocean Jasper could only be found at low tide and had to be extracted with small hand tools. It was then removed again by boat or loaded onto an ox driven cart and driven through rough terrain to the first available port.
Mother Nature created this stone in multitudes of colors. The ones that are considered the most unique have orbs (thus the name orbicular) of a vast array of designs and hues. Additionally many have little clefts, caves and druzys of crystalline fragments and what appears to be waves of water washing over & through the stone. All of these are of significant value. Since this gorgeous & exquisite stone is in great demand, the availability is seriously diminishing and prices are going up & up. It is especially difficult and quite expensive to find masterfully carved figures, always carved from ONE piece of stone.
I have searched hundreds of arenas, web sites, gem shows, etc. from all over the world and find less and less, most especially of the finest stones.
Since I started collecting over a year ago I've had the good fortune to purchase rare & magnificent ocean jasper gemstones.

Sorry, for the delay. Unfortunately, this is not the picture of the jewelery I bought. However, I was given a very good deal on another piece and bought it instead. Good Service. Well made.
