Stunningly beautiful. Shop owner was kind throughout process and quick to send. I appreciate that part of this funding went beyond the artist to support others, too. I will keep my eye on her work and hope for other things to order soon!

About

The Story Behind Crafty Notions

I wanted something special to adorn my wedding bouquets and decided to design some beaded crosses that matched my wedding colors. The crosses made a great accent to the bouquets and a special gift for my bridesmaids. I got so many compliments on them that I decided to start selling them.

I love all things creative. I'm also a graphic designer and photographer, but there is just something so refreshing and exciting about creating art with raw, hands-on materials. I love the process of weaving the beads to the cross forms and the way that every cross turns out just a little bit different.

In addition to the creative outlet and the extra income, my reason for making these crosses is to help those living in extreme poverty. Twenty-five to fifty percent of my profits are donated to help working Ugandan mothers and their children through Kiva.org and Amazima Ministries (see my Shop Policies section for more details).

Words to Live By:
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Jennifer and am a stay-at-home mom to twins boys and their baby brother, and wife to photographer and designer, Devin Hanson.

My Etsy shop is just a little venue for me to generate some extra income for our family, while also having extra resources available to help to the poor around the world (see the Additional Information section below for more details). Plus, it's nice to have a creative outlet amidst the daily tasks of mommyhood.

I started making beaded crosses to adorn the bouquets at my wedding and they got so many compliments that I decided to start selling them. Because every cross is handmade, the pattern of the beading is unique to each piece: giving you a one-of-a-kind item to display in your home or give as a special gift.

Additional policies and FAQs
APPEARANCE: Because they are handmade, the pattern of beading will vary slightly on each cross. Crosses pictured are samples only.

CUSTOM ORDERS: If there is a specific color combination that you would like, but don't see here, please contact me and I'd be happy to design something just for you! Custom orders have an additional fee of $5.00 per cross.

BULK ORDERS: Need more crosses? Hit the "Contact" button and let me know what you need - I'm happy to make you a custom, bulk order.

GIVING BACK: Even though by American standards, my family would be defined as living below the "poverty line", our household's income still makes us richer than 80% of the world's population. With this sobering thought in mind, I feel have been blessed and I believe it is so that I can bless others. That is why a percentage of my proceeds are donated to assist those living in extreme poverty around the world.

The "We're All in This Together" cross is very special to me, as it features beads made by women in a country I have come to love (Uganda, Africa). In addition, 50% of the profits from this cross will be donated to Amazima Ministries to help feed children living in the slums of Uganda. Each cross purchase will provide approximately sixty (60) meals for a child in Africa.

25% of the profits from all other crosses will be donated to Kiva.org and provide micro-loans to business-owning mothers in Uganda - giving them the hope and opportunity to use their talents and abilities to lift their families out of poverty.
