About

Wheel thrown functional pottery for daily use.

After graduating from Ball State University with a BFA in ceramics in 2000, I moved to Phoenix and stumbled along in the work force, eventually finding a career in printing. However I never lost the strong desire work with clay.

I found a great ceramics studio in North Phoenix (Desert Dragon Pottery) where I could continue learning and developing my skills. Over the following years I began to sell items to fellow studio members, co-workers, and of course always supportive friends and family. When I heard about Etsy, it seemed a perfect fit for a serious, yet part-time potter like myself.

I've built up a small studio in my home, where I throw and assemble my pots. I have an old electric kiln at home as well, which I use to bisque fire. I then transport my pieces to the Desert Dragon, where I glaze my pieces. They are fired to cone 10 in reduction in the studios large gas kiln. I mix many of the glazes I use at the Dragon, and help with their regular reduction firings as time permits.

I love making pretty and functional items that can be interacted with by the owner in every day life. I believe a handmade piece should not only look beautiful, but should feel nice in your hands as you drink your tea or eat your cereal. I plan to be making pots for years to come!
