About

Jill the Pill Design - Creations by a Jill-of-Many-Trades.

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by - here's hoping you'll enjoy the shop and all it has to offer. Jill the Pill Design aims to create jewelry pieces that are beautiful, cute, and stand out in a crowd, plus stationery and art prints that are sure to make you or a lucky recipient smile. Also in the works is a collection of "Spoonie" items to help raise chronic illness awareness and inspiration for the people impacted by them.

~*A Bit about the Artist*~

Jill "the Pill" Sheehan is a 30-something year-old graphic designer, artist, writer, dreamer - a bit of a "Renaissance Woman," if you will. Living just outside Seattle, her goal is to one day live in New York City, where quirky, creative folks can thrive among fellow artists, actors and writers. She has quite a witty and sarcastic sense of humor, which you'll see in some of her more whimsical creations; a bit of a child-at-heart, while also able to sit quietly and appreciate the little things in life. According to the "boss" and resident art su-PURR-visor, AKA Fluffy, Jill is also a die-hard cat lover who lives to serve her feline's every need. (If someone didn't type that, Fluffy would jump up on the desk and start writing it herself, so...)

Why Jill the Pill? It was a nickname bestowed upon her years ago, plus it rhymes and is easy to remember, yes? If you were to meet Jill in person, you'd find she's actually not much of a pill at all, though, honest!

~*Bitten by the Creative Bug*~

"The Pill" has been making artful messes and happy accidents pretty much all her life, thanks to her mother VerLen, who was always crafting stuff, selling them at bazaars or gifting them to family and friends, while helping her daughter tap into her own creativity in the process. Growing up, many trips to hobby, craft and fabric stores were made, starting with beading, wood crafts, dollhouse miniatures, Barbie clothes and later on, playing with polymer clay. It hasn't changed much, as both enjoy creating jewelry and artsy-fartsy stuff to this day. Jill also dabbles a bit in playwriting and screenwriting, as words have been a lifelong love of hers, too. One could say there's never a dull moment in a mind where ideas are always flowing.

~*Favorite Mediums and the Creative Process*~

The main focus, craft-wise, is creating wearable art pendants with polymer clay, using all sorts of shiny inclusions, mediums and techniques along the way. Not one to follow tutorials or copy other artists, she appreciates the gorgeous work of others and curates inspiring references on Pinterest, yet enjoys just winging it and seeing where the art takes her. Designing things she'd personally would want to buy and/or wear, Jill tries to come up with distinctive creations you won't find anywhere else.

A lifelong doodler with a graphic design background, Jill visualizes designs from sculpted clay to print, which is why you'll see many clay critters coming to life in stationery form as well. Why not wear 'em and write on 'em, too? She loves to create cute characters, yet loves the challenge of making spur-of-the-moment, abstract and mixed-media pieces as well. Every item in the shop is conceptualized, created and hand assembled by the artist herself - you won't find anything for sale that has been mass-produced overseas or done by hired out helpers - she's fiercely independent like that!

Jill looks forward to learning more about torch and kiln-firing metal clay, soldering and glass-working as time goes on, because an artist should always be open to trying new things as they explore a world full of artistic possibilities. :)

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit more about what goes at Jill the Pill Design; enjoy what you see, maybe buy something if it's speaking to you, and share it with others!
