About

Polymer clay + a little wire = wearable art

Jill Kollmann, JKay Jewelry: I use polymer clay to create one of a kind artisan pieces, all hand made myself. Specialties include micro sculpt applique and fine wire accents on jewelry and home décor items including special trinket boxes. Tutorials are available as part of my Guided Discoveries (c) series.

I love working with polymer clay! I have my sister to thank for getting me started, and many other clayers to thank for teaching me how to refine techniques and master skills to create beautiful items that are well made and one of a kind. I also enjoy working with wire so every once it a while you'll see some wire elements combined with the clay.

My work is heavily influenced by stories my grandmother used to tell me about ladies' afternoon tea and "at home" days when callers would be received and entertained. That was back when those sorts of gatherings were dutifully reported in the Society Page of the local newspaper, and always fun to read.

When I'm not indulging myself with floral applique, I enjoy a wide range of polymer clay techniques that result in different looks, some more contemporary, and always finished with attention to detail.

I have been working with polymer clay for over ten years, primarily creating beads, jewelry and treasure boxes. I particularly enjoy making artisan cabochons, which I sell or make into a finished piece using wire work or seed beading techniques.

Welcome to JKay Jewelry. I specialize in hand crafted jewelry, much of which features polymer clay focals or beads that I make myself.

CARING FOR POLYMER CLAY

Polymer clay is strong and will provide years of wear if properly cared for. It may not survive being slammed in the car door, run over, or otherwise crunched with something like a hammer. It doesn't like harsh cleaners, chemicals, chlorine, and stuff like that, nor does it take well to salt water because that can affect the finish. Clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Keep it separated from sharp or pointy objects such as stuff that's at the bottom of your purse or in your jewelry box; wrap it in something to protect it from being scratched.

CUSTOM ORDERS

Yes! Convo me. I can custom mix clay colors to coordinate with fabric swatches if you need specific colors. All custom orders require a 50% deposit.

MODIFY ITEMS IN THE SHOP

Yes! My product descriptions always include lengths and sizes. If you need something longer or shorter, convo me and we'll figure out what to add or take away to get to the length you need.

I frequently use ear wires, sterling or otherwise, that I make myself. I can replace these with lever-backs or other earring findings if you prefer, at the current market price. I cannot make that kind of a change without charging a little more because of the added cost of the materials. I will not charge for time to make the change. I usually keep several differnt kinds of earring posts and wires on hand so there shouldn't normally be a delay in shipping your order.

All sales are FINAL unless there is a flaw in workmanship. If there is a problem with a piece, please convo me and feel free to include a picture of the problem area so we can figure out a solution that is fair and reasonable.
Additional policies and FAQs
I use many different kinds of wire and metal materials. Please pay attention to descriptions, as some is sterling and some is not. The description will always state what kind of wire or metal is included in a piece so you will know what it is, and how to care for it.
