About

We make affordable pottery for daily use

We opened December of 2011 and reopened August of 2013 after a few months off. Jmacs Pottery started by accident really. The owner Jeremy had recently had hip replacements and needed something to do during the recovery. He joined the Helena Clay Arts Guild and eventually started making so much pottery he had to sell it. Fast forward a few years and two store fronts later and we find ourselves here.

We are now in the downtown district of Helena, Montana. This is now a great location where we have the room to have classes for learning how to make pottery. It was a big risk but believe it will pay off during the holiday season.

All our work is food safe and made to last. Our pottery is thrown and fired in our studio using an mid range electric kiln. We use our local supplier the Archie Bray Foundation for our clay and materials.

FAQs

IS YOUR POTTERY FOOD SAFE? CAN I PUT IT IN MY MICROWAVE? WHAT ABOUT MY DISHWASHER?

All of our stoneware pottery is made for functional kitchen and table use. It is lead-free and food safe. You can put it in the dishwasher, microwave, freezer...even your oven! Avoid sudden temperature changes, like taking a bowl out of the fridge and putting it in a 350* oven or putting a hot dish into a sink of cold water. This is called "thermal shock" it may cause damage to your pottery . Pieces used in your oven should always be placed in a cold oven so they can gradually heat along with the oven. With just a little extra care, stoneware is very durable and should last for years.

CAN I GET A DISCOUNT FOR MORE THEN ONE PIECE?

We're always pleased when customers are wanting to buy more than one piece of our pottery. However, we do not offer discounts for regular retail purchases of less than 20 items. If you're a qualified retailer interested in carrying our work, please contact us for our wholesale prices.

I LIKE YOUR MUGS BUT WANT A DIFFERENT COLOR. CAN YOU DO THAT?

We have a store front that has many other colors then posted on our Etsy site. Please ask about other colors and we will try our best to get it for you. We are limited to the glazes we already have tested.

I BOUGHT A FEW THINGS FROM YOU YEARS AGO AND CANT FIND THEM OR THE SAME COLOR.

As the years go by we tend to adjust our production line. Sometimes we stop using a color due to changes with our suppliers. Feel free to ask if we can repeat something.

Please keep in mind that with all pottery there will be slight differences with color, size and shape with all similar items. Many factors play into this and can not be avoided. Many of our items will be stock photos.

CAN YOU MAKE ME SOMETHING YOU DO NOT HAVE ON ETSY CURRENTLY?

We do have a storefront with many other items. It never hurts to ask if we carry something else. We currently will only list items we already make.
