About

In Which I Take the Plunge, and Do Not Die

There are only so many times you can hear someone tell you that you should be selling your work before you begin to think seriously about it. I thought seriously about it for years. Then a few coincidences set the ball in motion in 2012, and I told myself that if I could meet some tough goals by the end of 30 days I would open my shop, really and truly. In part, I think I set such tough goals because I wanted an excuse. With the work I already did and with homeschooling my kids, my plate was too full to fiddle around with an entrepreneurial venture. I didn't want to take that leap.

But I beat my deadline. (Gahh!! Overachiever.) That meant I really, really had to do it. I had to open an Etsy shop and enter the world of retail. I had to learn about taxes and photo editing and budgets and networking and a whole bunch of icky stuff that makes creative folks like me sweat through their shirts and wonder if their brains are actually melting or if it just feels like it.

I did it. And I didn't die. In fact, I kind of like it. Thanks for stopping by to check out my work.

Shop policies

Last updated on June 30, 2015
Welcome to my shop! I've been sewing and crafting for almost 30 years and have a special fondness for creating items that are practical as well as beautiful. Some items are my own design, and some are based on the designs of others (for instance, I am a licensed seller of Indygo Junction bags). I am also happy to consider custom orders - just convo me or see below for more details!

Accepted payment methods

Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges
Contact me within: 3 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 14 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
I like happy customers. :) Please read each item description carefully before purchase! I take great care to list dimensions and special care requirements for each item. I trust my customers to make an informed decision based on accurate descriptions and the accompanying photographs of each item. My items are handmade, and therefore not perfect; however, I inspect each item carefully during production and prior to shipping to ensure it is something I can be proud to send to a new home. Please contact me immediately if you have a problem with an item you've purchased in my shop and we'll see if we can find a good remedy for the situation.
Payment
I accept credit cards through Etsy checkout and Paypal. If you are having trouble completing a transaction, please contact me and I'll be happy to help. Delayed payments may trigger payment reminders or transaction cancellations, so please contact me if you anticipate delays in payment.
Shipping
I ship using the USPS and aim to send in-stock packages out within two business days of receipt of payment. Custom orders take longer; see announcements on my shop home page for current wait times.

Please make sure your Paypal address is current, as that is where your package will be shipping. Lost and lonely packages break my heart. :( Even sadder are the packages that arrive damaged! I package my items carefully; however, I highly recommend purchasing shipping insurance. Items damaged during shipment cannot be replaced.

Orders local to Northwest Arkansas can be picked up rather than shipped if you would like to save on shipping fees. Convo me for details.

International orders: Please convo me if you are interested in an item in my shop! I may be able to add a shipping option for you.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom order policies: these orders may be subject to a fabric special order fee ($10+), a larger size fee (for instance, you see a smocked baby dress in my shop and you'd like me to make the same dress in a girls' size 10; the extra cost of materials will be reflected in your purchase price), a rush fee ($20+) or other fees depending on the specific details of your order. Convo me for more information and price quotes.
