Ever since I was a little girl, I liked to create things. I was making simple scrapbooks long before scrabooking swept the nation. I got busy, however, and barely managed to have time to even put my photos in albums. My creativity turned to working with my preschool son. When he began kindergarten I received a free scrapbook it in the mail. I created a page and was instantly hooked. I began scrapbooking like crazy!

I joined an online scrapbooking community which challenged me to stretch my creative abilities. Several of my online friends were making beautiful cards and my interest in piqued. I made a couple of cards that I thought were cute. I look back at those now and wonder what on earth I was thinking...they were awful! So I "took notes" from those who made beautiful cards and learned some new techniques. Pretty soon I was making cards for friends and family that I was proud to send out.

I began giving sets of cards as gifts and friends started inquiring about making cards for them. With that, and some major encouragement from my husband, JMDesigns was born. It's been a little bit of up and down with different seasons in my life. Sometimes the rest of my life takes a much bigger priority than the business part. So I've had a few lulls in this business. But that's ok. That's the beauty of working for yourself! I'm looking forward to a busy creating year for 2013!
