Announcement   Welcome to JMurray Studio. All of my work is original and each piece is handmade by me in my studio. I use several different clay bodies to achieve varied results in style and color and all glazes and finishes are food-safe unless otherwise stated. I make my handmade pottery with the hope that it will be used and enjoyed every day; it is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing to protect the more delicate pieces.

** I am no longer taking custom orders. **

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTIONS AND SHIPPING POLICIES CAREFULLY BEFORE PURCHASING. I make every effort to describe items and their measurements as accurately as possible. You will receive the exact item as pictured; I do not use stock photos. If you have any questions regarding size, color, shape, etc., PLEASE contact me before purchasing if you need additional information.

I hope you will enjoy your visual stroll thru the Studio. I add new items as quickly as I can get them produced and photographed, so please visit often. If you have any questions about what you see (or would like to see) in my shop, please feel free to contact me. When you purchase pottery from my Etsy store, be assured that it is truly and honestly handmade. I do not buy pre-made bisque ware and sell it as handmade.

If you would like to see more of my original / handmade pottery please visit me at: https://zibbet.com/murray-studio. Thank you.

About

I just like to make things.

I've been a maker all my life - I started sewing and embroidering before I was 5 years old. My first sewing machine was a vintage Singer that my mother gave me when I was 10. I learned to make my own clothes on that machine; I made dolls and pillows out of old fabric, buttons and lace. I made baskets and dried floral arrangements and sold my creations at craft fairs. I've been weaving since I was 12 and painting since I was old enough to hold a paint brush, but nothing has ever held my interest like clay.

My first experience with clay was when I discovered it tucked in along the shoreline of a Minnesota lake. I was 9 years old. I dug it out with a stick and made pinch pots, painting them with old oil paints that I found in our shed. I was hooked from that moment on. I love all art mediums, but I especially love working with clay; to hold it in my hands, to mold it and watch it take shape - to make something beautiful and unique from the earth. Even though I was in the legal field for many years, I've never wanted to do anything other than create art in all its forms. I've learned in this wonderful journey called life, that being a "maker" is not just what I do, it's who I am, and I'm OK with that.

I try to learn something new every day, to improve and inspire - to make my pottery useful, special and unique. I create from the heart - what I do is truly a labor of love.

Most of the vintage items offered on this site are from my own personal collection of pottery, art, textiles and miscellaneous little things I have found over the years. I have been a collector for most of my life, but lack of space leaves me no choice but to (hopefully) find good homes for these treasures with some of you :)

I hope you enjoy browsing the Studio and that you will visit again soon.

Shipping
Currently, my shipping fees are based on the cost of shipping to the West Coast to more accurately reflect shipping to the furthermost regions of the country. Your individual shipping cost may be less, depending on where you live. Shipping costs to Alaska may be more than quoted in my prices. If shipping is considerably more to Alaska residents or those in the upper East, I may contact you for additional postage.

I will ship your purchase as cost effectively as possible, utilizing either UPS or USPS, (priority or ground) usually in 1-3 business days unless stated otherwise. If your mail is delivered to a Post Office box, please provide an alternative physical address for delivery of your purchase.

Your purchase is insured with the US postal service if shipped priority mail. I prefer shipping priority mail as your package will usually arrive faster and with less handling by the postal service (less chance of breakage). Larger items can cost substantially more to send; I try to estimate postage on larger items, but not knowing the destination and size / weight of the packaging to be used, it's difficult to be totally accurate.

I use as many recyclable materials as possible to protect your purchase(s). I ask that you please recycle and reuse as many of these items as possible.
