Throwing at the amazing Kinnakeet Clay in Avon, NC.

Throwing a large vessel, I made 4 of these which ended up being 3' tall after the final glaze firing.

Setting the table with handmade plates becomes exciting, allowing for a new piece of artwork to be created each time.
My pots are well crafted objects for use. They showcase the quality of the handmade and the value of working with our hands.
I am a potter. I am a woman, business owner, entrepreneur, wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, amateur gardner.
I got started in clay about 8 years ago when I took an elective class at school and wound up spending the majority of my time in the clay studio. I switched my major the next semester and have been working in clay ever since. There are so many avenues you can take with clay and the opportunities are endless, this keeps me striving to create.
I use simple glazes to accentuate the generous and sturdy form and quiet the surface, allowing for a focus on form without distraction. The surfaces are painterly yet influenced by my graphic design background.
Function plays an important role when I design and create forms. The forms are sturdy, strong, generous and made for use. They are food safe (no lead), dishwasher and microwave safe. They are designed to be pleasant to look at and to function well. I hope that even the smallest of details such as the way the handle fits in your hand or the angle of the lip are pleasant areas for use. Every once in a while there is a piece that I become very attached to and just "can't let go," this is one of the perks of my job because my unwillingness to let go allows me to test my pieces and see how they function in the cupboard instead of just on a shelf or in my studio.
Pots become a part of our eating and drinking habits and/or rituals allowing for us to serve food with ceremony. I create these pieces through the wheel and hand alterations. I enjoy working with my hands and have an appreciation for the handmade. Bringing something new and thoughtful into the world generates sense of meaning and fulfillment.
I am lucky enough to work out of my beautiful 200 year old house in the Finger Lakes Hills with my three pups Lola, Buxton and Timber by my side (often with clay on their sides).

Shipping
I ship to whatever address is supplied through Etsy, so please make sure that your Etsy shipping address is correct and up-to-date. I will notify you when your order has shipped and will provide you with a tracking number.
If you live in the Finger Lakes/Rochester NY area and would prefer to purchase locally, please message me directly before checking out.
If your purchase was damaged during shipping, please send me a photograph of your damaged product and package within 48 hours.
Once the item is shipped; any delays,customs issues or lost packages are not the responsibility of jmv ceramics.
At this time I am unfortunately only able to ship to the Continental US, thank you for your understanding.

Gift wrapping and packaging
Custom gift wrapping/packaging is available upon request. I may also include a personal handwritten note. Please message me when placing your order if you are interested in any of these options and/or to give an address for the gift recipient.
Sizing details
Each piece is handmade and therefore will differ slightly in size/surface. They each have their own personality!
Custom orders
I welcome custom orders and love making sets of pottery!!! If you are interested in multiples and/or sets of any of my pieces please let me know!
Custom orders require a 50% deposit when placing order and are nonrefundable.
