About JodiLaneDesigns

On Etsy since 2012

Designer. Seamstress. Artist.

In 2007, I started out creating posing suits for myself, and clients around the country. I loved it, and enjoyed the process of creating my own sewing patterns for a unique fit and look for my clients. After several years of working one-on-one with clients, I decided there may be others that want to learn how to create their own suits. That's when I decided to create the sewing patterns you see in my store today! This experience has brought me much joy as I am able to interact with my customers worldwide, hearing their success stories, and I am so honored to be a part of their creative experience!

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy elastic?

Check out eBay for 5/16" or 1/4" knitted elastic. I always used a seller by the name of ny-sale.

For some reason, the sewing pattern seems to have printed too large or too small, what do I do?

In Adobe Acrobat Reader, make sure your settings are set to "Actual Size" before hitting the print button, otherwise the printer will often shrink to fit or stretch to fit it to the printer paper, thus distorting the sewing pattern.

What type of fabric do you use for posing suits and bikinis?

For the top fabric, always use a 4-way stretch fabric, and for the liner fabric, I always loved using either swim 4-way stretch liner, or 4-way stretch cotton lycra.

What's the best glue for gluing on rhinestones?

E-6000 is my favorite, but be careful, it does have fumes that need ventilated. Read all safety information before use.

What types of rhinestones do you recommend?

I always use the glass-type rhinestones, such as Swarovski, Preciosa, or Allora. Avoid using acrylic, and stick to flat back rhinestones. I do not like using hotfix, only due to the fact that they take longer to apply.

My most used sizes for rhinestones are 16ss, 20ss, and 30ss on suits.

Where do you buy bra pads?

Unfortunately, this is my MOST frequently asked question, as well as most difficult one to answer. I used to have a local supplier, but they went out of business. It is very difficult to find sellers, but my recommendation is to search here on Etsy because we have a great resource of sellers.

Due to this being so difficult, I created a sewing pattern, that's now in my store, that specifically addresses the issue by teaching you how to create your own foam cup for a molded cup top. It is the Classic Style Top, go check it out!

I am having trouble with a certain step in the sewing process, help!

Please check out my sewing videos at because I have several helpful sewing videos that address some of the more complicated steps! I hope this helps!

What kind of machine do you use?

Husqvarna Emerald 183. I purchased it in 2011, and it's still going strong! Which ever machine you choose, I highly recommend one with a drop-in bobbin. They are the absolute BEST.

What stitches does my machine need to have to be able use your patterns?

All your machine needs is the ability to do a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch. My sewing patterns are designed so that anyone can use them with the simplest of tools!
