joeart1950's Shop Announcement

When I headed to the School of Associated Arts in St. Paul MN in 1972 I thought my passion was in fine arts and enjoyed my two years there. While there, I was introduced to a book called the Illustrator’s Annual and found my passion. I transferred to and graduated from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, CA in 1974. I began my career as an illustrator in 1977 and continued to make my living as a freelance illustrator until recent years. Most of my freelance work was done for numerous Christian publishers illustrating magazine articles, book jacket and pamphlet work. Other clients included the Chicago Tribune, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News Magazine and more. I spent some time from 1979 to 1981 teaching illustration at the Chicago Institute of Art. When my Parkinson’s disease made it too difficult to do much of the small detail of illustration I returned to the joy of oil painting. Being very experienced as an illustrator, it was intriguing to turn to a new medium and start learning all over again. I’m still learning with every painting and loving every minute of the process. My abilities are a gift from God and I am thankful to use the gift every day I’m given.
