5 out of 5 starsFunctional Art. Beautiful and unique piece of art as well as a fully functioning bird feeder. Joe definitely put a lot of thought into this one. I installed it in my front yard and I want people to think to themselves as they approach the house ... Is it art? ... or is it a bird feeder? It’s both!! I’ve had many feeders and looked at many more, but this one is truly one of a kind. Love the rusty patina. The birds have many places to perch and land on, so it accommodates many types. The cardinals, titmice and doves have taken to it in just the couple of days I’ve had it. The 2 seed trays gives you the ability to use different feed to attract different birds. Great addition to my yard and Joe was a pleasure to work with. Very fast communication and was willing to accommodate, or at least consider, any modification.

5 out of 5 starsLove it! A centerpiece I can style my whole backyard around. It's my first feeder in my new place and it was chickadee approved almost immediately. After some hesitation the stellar jays decided they like it too. A flicker even came to see what all the commotion was about.

5 out of 5 starsI love this bird feeder so much. The birds come everyday, they love it too!
About joepapendick
For Birds and Other Living Things
I was born in NYC, grew up in Waldwick, NJ, and moved back to New York to attend college: first at Parsons School of Design, later at NYU and Hunter College. I moved to St. Louis in 1994, where I live with my fiancée Rachel, our two Boston Terriers, Sassy and Winston… and a black lab mutt named Jack.
Several years ago Rachel's mom asked me if I could fix a tall platform bird feeder that some raccoons had climbed up on and bent. I figured it would be easier to just weld her a new one. I had remembered, from a documentary I'd seen on big wave surfing, how some surfers had attached to their boards an extended tail fin that ended with a sort of eye beam shape at the bottom. They discovered that it lifted their boards just slightly above the waves while still anchoring them firmly in the water. I thought this might prove a good solution for anchoring a tall bird feeder firmly into the ground without unnecessary cementing.
I'm always looking for interesting solutions to simple problems. As usual one thing tends to lead to another and I've been expanding on these ideas ever since.

Owner, Designer

Shop policies
Every piece I have listed here on Etsy is made entirely by hand... by me. Even the circular 'Charm' bird feeders have been bent by hand and welded into a circle.
All of the large 'sculptural' works are essentially one of a kind pieces. Although I often will repeat some of the basic design concepts, no two will ever be exactly the same.
With most of the smaller 'design' oriented work, I always try to keep a certain amount on hand. Since these are always finished with a final coat of paint, prior to shipping, it will usually take me at least a day or two to pack and ship your order.
Please let me know if you have any particular time constraints, as I will always do my best to oblige.
