Wheel-Thrown and Whimsical Handbuilt Wares
I focus on forms that I love and use, and--when I can--like adding a bit of humor to my work. I pull my inspiration from nature, from the streets of New York City (where I lived for 9 years), and from a variety of historical periods. Mix all that and you get pieces that are completely unique.
I have been smitten with throwing clay on the wheel since I was very young, but only embraced it as a means of expression much later. There is a romantic and meditative nature that drew me to working with clay, a deep history going back thousands of years that speaks of an art where practical needs meet self expression and deeply held beliefs. Like any art, there is also a tremendous amount of effort that goes into each piece. I have been working with clay for roughly 7 years and I cannot imagine ever feeling like I've learned all there is to know about the art.
I've dedicated a lot of love to each piece and it is my greatest hope that some of that shines through.
Owner, Maker, Designer
I am a ceramicist based in NYC, but raised in Ohio. My work comes from my deep love of nature and the amazing urban jungle that is my home. I specialize in functional wares and whimsical, handbuilt pieces.
All of my work is stoneware, either white or brown, and has been fired in a cone-6 electric kiln. All of my kitchen/servingware is microwave safe, and can be heated in an oven up to 500 degrees. To preserve the finish on each piece, I do recommend washing them by hand, though they are dishwasher safe.
