Announcement   I am pleased to be invited to the international Arts and Crafts Design Award 2016! More information on this coming out soon!

-----

My "Raspberry Crest" Arashi Shibori dyed scarf is a finalist in the prestigious NICHE Awards.

Only 180 entries out of more than 1600 submissions were named as finalists in this year's competition. The awards program is sponsored by NICHE Magazine, the exclusive trade publication for independent retailers.

Now in its 27th year, the NICHE Awards program began in 1989 to recognize th outstanding creative achievements of American craft artists who produce work for craft galleries and retail stores. Judging is based on three main criteria:

• Technical excellence, both in surface design and form
• Market viability
• A distinct quality of unique, original and creative thought

Winners of the 2016 NICHE Awards will be announced at a ceremony in January in conjunction with the American Made Show, the nation's largest wholesale marketplace bringing together American and Canadian artists, designers and retailers.

----

My hats and scarves are one of kind handmade artistic creations. Each one is designed like a small sculpture, taking color, texture, size, shape and balance into account.

See my website blog, www.JudiBradford.com for care instructions for the shibori scarves.

I include the shipping cost in my prices. Most of my items fit into USPS standard flat rate boxes and so the shipping is simple. I will designate unusual items with a shipping notice if it requires more than the standard rate.

Please message me for international shipping.

Nice. Hope she makes more pastel sketches available. Thanks.

About

One of a Kind Hats and Arashi Shibori Scarves

My one of a kind hats are cut and sewn from exotic and sometimes vintage fabric and adorned with rosettes, veils, beads and gently gathered feathers. I include many different fabric techniques in the process. At one point I began dying pieces of fabrics using the arashi shibori method and using those for rosettes. The dying and pleating effects from that process are stunning and so I began dying and pleating scarves as well.

My silk dyed and and pleated scarves are a luxurious texture in jewel tone colors. The patterns that evolve from this fascinating process are luscious. I have added some innovations of my own to the ancient traditional Japanese method, making my scarves unique and each is one of a kind.

Photos and more info are available at my website JudiBradford.com.

I post my current items here for sale. The hats and scarves sell fairly promptly from here and from my studio and I am not always able to immediately update. They are all one-of-a-kind. If you see something you like and it is not available, I can recreate something similar to it, but remember that the materials, feathers and processes cannot be absolutely duplicated. I can work with you for custom work by emailing photos back and forth and getting feedback from you. If you have an outfit you are trying to match, send me photos and we can work together toward the end product.
