5 out of 5 starsI'm not aware of any "cream stoneware" in this piece. I love Judi's carving and pin-prick surface texture, but realized when I got it that I could live without the glass. It hadn't bothered me in the photo, only in the "flesh". I felt that it distracted from the wonderful ceramic work. YMMV However, due to the design, it is easy to orient the piece so you see the glass center - or not. Very well packed and fast shipping.

About jtceramics
-
Almost all of Judi's s work is thrown on the pottery wheel as a 1st step in the process.
-
The piece must be somewhat conceived of before it is thrown on the wheel.
-
Judi allows the process to guide the further development of the work.
-
Many hours in the studio are spent developing and detailing each piece.
-
The end result is ceramic art, decorative and sculptural, reflecting memories in nature with a nod to modern design.
Reflections of Nature with Modern Design
I am inspired by the beauty of shapes and textures that I observe in nature.
When I create, I choose to re-imagine, not replicate, these memories.
Coastal discoveries, woodland finds, or lush flora influence my exploration in the studio.
This current body of work is wheel thrown and hand built with thick walls using a strong, sandy stoneware.
The coarse clay allows me to deeply carve away and rigorously texture the vessel.
I apply a layer of white porcelain slip to the cream clay surface, which soften and whitens.
This adds a new dimension to the textured pieces and a soft skin to the smooth forms.
I discreetly apply clear glaze or glass frit as the piece necessitates, adding a bit of aquatic glisten to the object's surface.
The work that emerges feels new and modern, yet decidedly familiar.
It is reflective of seaside moments and meditative pauses in the natural world.
My process results in unique art objects that elegantly accent contemporary home decor and interior design.
I invite the designer and collector to join me in the creative process through individual collection and curation.
By encouraging the sharing of photos of the work in situ, I hope to allow for a sense of community between artist and collector.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968, Judi enjoyed a career in fashion and textile print design before discovering clay in 2002.
As a wife and mother of 2 teenage boys, Judi works in a studio in her home located in
Rumson, New Jersey.
Her life in clay has been intertwined with the rearing of her children, involvement in
community and exploration found through frequent travel.
It is due to all of these varied experiences that Judi feels allows her to experiment and create her unique ceramic work.

Shop policies
First of all, I am an artist.
Business policies are a necessity and therefore I have a few that follow.
Please understand that I am happiest when my work finds a new loving home.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am here to help! You can convo me here, email at jtceramics [!at] aol.com.
Everything that you see on my Etsy shop is made by me, by hand. I use wheel throwing and hand building and then painstakingly carve and texture. Each piece is unique, one-of-a-kind work of art and measurements are approximate depending on where the piece is measured.
I do my best to ship work that most closely resembles the photograph, but please keep in mind ... my photography is good... but... it is a photo. Teleporting the object for review WOULD be better...
Each piece is handmade and therefore "one of a kind".
Any small imperfections on the surface are to be embraced as part of the artistic process.
Please let me know if you are purchasing an item as a gift and I will include a personalized card for the recipient.
