What? No coupon codes or sales. Why is this? My handmade items are priced to be reasonable and fair; for you and for me. Quality, handcrafted and unique items at affordable prices. I don't want you to have to watch for a sale; or, miss a sale or overlook or wait for a coupon code "to get the best deal". I don't want you to have paid "full price" for something, only to find it at a "sale price" a day or two later. Although prices are subject to change, I do my best to assure you are getting "the best deal" each and every day at JudysTreehouse.

About

Every Day We're Different! What's On Your Style Agenda Today?

Hi. I’m Judy. I live in Frederick, IL with my husband Greg, two dogs, a cat, and a few chickens. We have cows in the pasture, too. I'd like some goats or sheep and even a pig but Greg is currently taking a " no way" stance so we're currently in a "we'll see" mode.

JudysTreehouse was established in 2014. It is a registered business in Schuyler County, Illinois. JudysTreehouse is not a bricks and mortar store. I design and create jewelry, gifts and decor in my home studio, which is not open to the public. See pictures of my studio on my website: https://www.judystreehouse.com

All of the items you find in JudysTreehouse I've created by hand, one piece at a time. From finding cool and unusual items to work into my designs to patiently creating each individual piece. Hand wrapping and hand polishing. Photographing. Pricing. Posting with accurate descriptions. Careful storage. Careful packaging. Quick Shipping. Each item has its own individual journey before its destination. And, I enjoy every aspect of it. Each process helps assure me that I am providing quality pieces at fair and affordable prices.

My creations are only available for purchase online here at JudysTreehouse.etsy.com.

Typically with my listings you'll find only one or just a few available. Although I may have more than one of any particular item, being handmade can sometimes make exact duplication a challenge not to mention that I often buy just a little bit of this or that to create a diverse array of unique jewelry designs.

The jewelry I sell is not intended to be worn by, handled by, or sold to children under the age of 18.

A little bit more about me.

After having raised three sons and deciding to retire early from my corporate job I found new activities to keep me busy. In addition to creating jewelry, I have flower, herb and vegetable gardens and I help my farmer husband with harvest in the fall.

I started creating jewelry in 2011 and enjoy every aspect of it. My creative muse differs daily and so do my designs. I especially love the Bohemian, Gypsy, Rustic Earthy style. What's your personality? Wear it and let people know your fun loving, down to earth style!

I have a bead addiction and am always on the lookout to add to my stash. Gemstones, pearls, crystal, glass. One can never have too many gorgeous beads! And, I have accumulated a large assortment of unique pieces to work into my designs.

Creating with copper and brass is my most addictive behavior. Cutting blanks from copper and brass sheets; the feel of the metal heating up as I file, sand and shape; having a bright, shiny, smooth metal canvas to apply a unique design; seeing what develops; wire wrapping; adding finishing touches......it's all about the journey AND the destination!!

Patina and/or Tarnish? Over time, exposure to oxygen and moisture (including natural elements, perspiration, perfumes, lotions, hair sprays, etc.) can cause metal jewelry to patina or tarnish and may sometimes cause skin discoloration. Patina is defined as "a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period". Tarnish is defined as "lose or cause to lose luster, especially as a result of exposure to air or moisture." The amount of patina and the time it takes to develop depends on the elements and the individual's body chemistry.

Some people like the natural development of patina on their jewelry resulting in rich warm darker tones. One of the many delights of owning a unique, handmade piece of jewelry. The brass and copper metals take on different hues as they develop a natural patina until eventually ending up with a warm brown or deep rust color. Silver will turn a dull, darker gray to black. As you wear your patina'd jewelry the friction from wearing the piece will "buff" (i.e. polish) parts of the metal giving it unique, natural "highlights" with darker areas in the nooks and crannies making it even more uniquely yours! Pretty cool!!!

To coat or not to coat??? Coating the metal with either a lacquer or wax will help reduce patina and tarnish development. There are pros and cons as to whether or not to apply a protective coating. Both will wear away over time and will need re-application. It's pretty much an individual preference. Unless otherwise indicated in the individual listing, the items I create do NOT have a protective coating. The brass and copper wire wrapped beads and pendants I create are put through a patina process to expedite the oxidation of the wire, I then sand the wire with fine steel wool, clean the piece with rubbing alcohol and finally buff the finished piece with a clean felt (no chemical polishing agents) cloth. The wire has a nice, clean golden brass or orange copper color which will continue to darken over time until reaching that warm rich brown or deep rust finish. The sterling silver jewelry in my shop is NOT oxidized/patina'd or coated. The hand made patina cuff bracelets, earrings, and hand cut pendants DO have a protective coating (see individual listing descriptions for specifics).

If you wish to slow down, minimize and/or prevent further patina/tarnish/discoloration, you should keep your jewelry clean and dry; store in small plastic zip lock type bags away from humid (i.e. bathroom/kitchen) areas. Don't despair if you find some patina/tarnish or skin discoloration. Skin discolorations will wash off. And, in most cases, the patina/tarnish can be easily cleaned and removed from jewelry. There are also products available which you can purchase to coat your jewelry to help minimize and/or eliminate patina/tarnish/skin issues. Just be sure that whatever route you take to clean and/or coat your jewelry you do your research first to find the best alternative for you and your jewelry.

All of the jewelry pieces I create are stored individually in plastic zip lock bags, away from moisture and light.

Micro fiber cord is not real suede/leather. It, along with leather and suede cord, will hold up longer if you do your best to keep it dry.
