After co-founding and leading a national child advocacy nonprofit for 20 years, I switched gears to do consulting work from home so I could spend more time with my young children.

When my youngest, JuJu, was 7, he started selling Perler bead creations at holiday markets and raised more than $500 for a newly-arrived Afghan refugee family. His specialty was beautiful snowflakes, and he taught himself to add jewels to make them sparkle.

From there he branched into highly original sun catcher prisms, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. He made them for friends' birthdays, for his teachers, and (lucky us!) family members.

It quickly became clear that this was serious business, so together we launched JuJu's Rare Bird Jewelry... because we've both often been called "rare birds."

Our family is trilingual in French and Spanish, and we spend as much time traveling as possible; JuJu's work is particularly influenced by the artisans we have met throughout Latin America.

We love doing custom work in particular, and imagining the joy people experience in wearing or seeing our creations. We pride ourselves on the highest quality of materials and workmanship, and stand behind every piece we sell.

We have a separate line of upcycled jewelry that we lovingly clean and repair, then donate 100% of the proceeds to charity. Jewelry donations are welcome. We usually sell in person at bake sales so far, but we make sales here too on a case-by-case basis.
