About

Relaunched into a sticker shop!

Welcome to the new and improved JuliaHut Shop: Birdy and Nerdy!

Previously my shop sold a variety of handmade items such as fandom pillows, handmade cards, and original art. Then in early 2018 I took a good hard look at my Etsy and decided to refocus on what I'm most passionate about: nerdy stickers celebrating geek culture!

I'm a lifelong fan of all things nerdy but I'm also an old soul. This means I'm drawn to older stuff like retro video games, anime and manga from the 70's, 80's, and 90's; and silent films from the 1920's. Add to that a genuine love of birds and wildlife, plus a healthy fear of the natural sciences like astronomy and geology.

My goal is to fill the niche of fun items catering to lesser known fandoms and scientific disciplines. Are you a fan of an obscure manga no one's heard of? Do you chuckle at the Far Side comics taped to your professor's door? Let me know what you're into and I might make a sticker sheet about it! (I have a spreadsheet to keep track of requests- yes, I am THAT kind of person)

I keep talking about geek culture but I've overlooked one important area... comics! I'm a published comics artist and will have my newest offerings available as well. Currently my focus is on short stories in comic anthologies, most of which are available through the publisher's or anthology organizer's website (for more info see my main website www.JuliaHut.com)

Thanks for reading my shop story and keep checking back! I'm always putting up new items and keeping it Birdy and Nerdy. <3

    Owner

Hi, my name is Julia and I'm owner and manager of this shop. Everything here is designed, drawn, packaged and shipped by yours truly.

  • El Espiritu Santo

    Mascot

There was a pure white dove who would always hang out in the park with the pigeons. I named her Espiritu Santo and loved watching her. One night we found her alone, struggling with a broken wing. Sadly she didn't make it. This logo is in her memory.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make the stickers?

I draw my sticker designs using both digital and traditional tools, then color them digitally. The files are then sent to a professional printer.

All my sticker sheets are kiss cut (meaning the sticker shapes are pre cut and ready to peel but the paper backing has no cuts in it). They are made using gloss vinyl, so they're waterproof, a little shiny, and don't tear easily.
