Announcement   What is unique about a Gypsy Wrap sewn by Julie Bartel?

Not all fabric is created equal. I prefer to work with quilt store quality fabric. I like the way it feels in my hands as I cut, under my sewing machine presser foot as I stitch, and the way that it holds up to repeated washing. Quilt store quality fabric has a higher thread count, more consistent color and lasts longer.

Although I own a serger, I iron and 'hem' each wrap carefully with a double hem seam. This prevents any unraveling in the wash. Also, having the hem at the edge of the wrap helps maintain the shape.

Gypsy Wraps are wider than most headbands. The sewn width is 8 1/2 inches. This allows you to wear it wide, fold it in half, or in thirds. I will gladly custom make a wrap to your width preference.

Thanks for stopping by my little Etsy shop. Take a look, wrap up!

About

Gypsy Wraps by Julie Bartel

A few years ago I started a business, The Yoga Gypsy LLC.
I began traveling to yoga studios in Wisconsin to teach classes. Students and studio owners were complimentary of the head wraps I wore. It wasn't long before students were requesting that I'd sew for them. Studio owners began inquiring about consignment/wholesale orders. After careful consideration, I started calling what I created Gypsy Wraps. Students started telling me that their far away friends wanted a way to purchase Gypsy Wraps too. My friend is a talented photographer and she helped me set up shop here on Etsy. I purchased GypsyWraps.com, linking it directly to my Etsy store & started taking orders.

In early 2011, Pixie Campbell, fellow Etsy artist and soul momma, offered Gypsy Wraps in a Valentine giveaway. I haven't put my sewing machine away since! Shortly after, Denise Andrade (BoHo Girl) started wearing Gypsy Wraps and I started shipping parcels all over the globe. It's been a fabulous adventure.

I prefer to work with really good quality fabric. I avoid big box stores in favor of quilt stores, supporting small business in nearby communities. My favorite fabric is batik because the color is vibrant and it holds up extremely well to repeated washing. Recently, I've started creating with dupioni washable silk. Based on feedback, silk is going to be something I use more in the future.

This summer I'll begin selling gypsy inspired clothing. Stay tuned!

I'm the Momma to four daughters, ages 4-12. I cut, iron, sew and assemble Gypsy Wraps while we homeschool. My children have learned their states, countries and continents based on where I'm shipping orders.

I love the stories & pictures that arrive in my inbox. I have a solid base of returning customers who are my best advertisers, sending new gypsies my way. I am so very grateful to have the opportunity to share what I love to create. Thank you!

The Yoga Gypsy LLC is how I get to share what I love do. It all started with teaching yoga classes and blossomed to include sewing Gypsy Wraps. Sewing is what I share via Etsy. Gratitude is what I feel each day that I step into my workshop.
