Jumblelaya: a Passion for Pretty

Jumblelaya is one of the longest continuously running online vintage shops, established in 1997. We have survived the ups and downs of small business ownership for good reason: a single-minded passion (some would say obsession) for finding and featuring some of the very best, prettiest vintage. We're on an endless quest to find the beautiful, bring it back to life, and share it with you.

Our world-famous Military Collection is unusual specialty of the shop, sturdy and wearable uniform pieces ca. 1940s to 1960s that work well for modern wear. We are partnered with another great vintage store, so you get to enjoy the life work and sourcing prowess of two dealers, all in one place.

We buy as well as sell, and are always looking for great vintage garments. We offer consignment services to handle your fine collections, too.

These vintage garments had a previous life and were worn and enjoyed by their previous owners, sometimes even passing through multiple generations. It's normal to see signs of historical use, especially in the older pieces. Given that condition can be a subjective call, we make every effort not to overstate it and to carefully note visible imperfections in our condition reports.

While sales are considered final, please do contact us ~directly~ if you have any concerns or you believe your purchase is significantly not as described. We'll work with you to make it right. Please don't use a small business's feedback as a sounding board without first contacting the shop itself -- we're friendly, easy-going, and are here to help you!
Items are shipped out in batches 2-3 times weekly. Most domestic shipping, except for jewelry and some lightweight items, is via tracked Priority Mail. All items are tracked.

Since spring of 2020 we have been covering insurance for all overseas items to provide extra assurance for clients outside the US and as a personal thank-you for your trust and your patronage. If your item has been missing in transit for 40 or more days, PLEASE contact us directly so we can begin the work of opening an insurance claim on your behalf.

Insurance is ALWAYS available for domestic clients as an upgrade, so please consider purchasing it just so you have that extra assurance in the rare case things go awry!

COVID-19 has affected shipping times across the board for US destinations as well as for overseas. While most items are arriving roughly on the expected timeline, others are taking much, much longer than usual. We are not responsible for any delays that happen that are outside of our personal control.

US expedited/Express shipping is often available for an additional fee. Contact us before purchasing any item(s) you need expedited in order to arrange for this upgrade.

Be sure your Etsy address is correct and up to date when placing an order. We aren't responsible for items marked as DELIVERED that have been misplaced or stolen after delivery, so please make sure you are shipping to a secure location.
Additional policies and FAQs
Buyers outside the US: We love you! Please be aware, though, that you are responsible for any taxes, VAT fees, or other fees imposed by your country. If you do not pay these fees, items may be returned to us by your postal service. You will then be responsible for any re-shipping costs. Items returned to us for any reason that you do not pay to reship in a timely manner (14 days or fewer) will be considered abandoned and returned to inventory.

Do not ask us to change values on customs forms -- this is illegal.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get this dress, but in my size?

Each garment in our shop is authentic vintage, dating from between 20 to 80 years old. We generally only have the one piece shown.

If you love it and it fits, consider buying it, since it's unlikely you'll find it again easily.

I have vintage to sell. Interested?

If you have classic 1930s to 1960s vintage that fits our shop's aesthetic, absolutely! We pay fairly, generally 1/3 of retail, sometimes even more. Shoot us a note with details of what you'd like to sell if you are outside the area, or set up an appointment to sell if you are in the Portland, OR metroplex!

I love this, but I need more time to pay for it. Do you offer layaway?

Sure do! Convo us for an info sheet about it.

Can I come try this on in person? Shop your collection?

Due to time constraints and social distancing we are no longer able to offer shopping appointments, local pick up, or in-person try on sessions. Buying appointments, if you have vintage to sell, are still available and are done in the safest way possible -- we can arrange for distance buying, or you may now come visit our lovely 1918 front porch to sell!
