Jumblelaya: a Passion for Pretty

Jumblelaya is one of the earliest online vintage shops, established in 1997. We have survived the ups and downs of small business ownership for good reason: a single-minded passion (some would say obsession) for finding and featuring some of the very best, prettiest vintage. Our focus is ca. 1930s - 1950s, but we also stock select later pieces. We have traveled as far as Belgium and France and as close as our historic neighborhood here in the glorious Pacific Northwest in our endless quest to bring home the beautiful and share it with you.

We buy as well as sell, and we are always looking for great 1960s and older vintage garments. We offer consignment services to handle your fine collections, too.

Returns and exchange details
Our authentic vintage garments are between 20 to 80 years old. These garments were worn and enjoyed by their previous owners, sometimes even passing through multiple generations. Please be familiar with the nature of vintage clothing and expect normal signs of age and historical use, especially in the older pieces.

We make every effort to photograph, measure, and describe our garments as accurately as possible so you can shop with ease and confidence.

All items are sold as-is, with sales considered final. But please do reach out and contact us directly if you believe your purchase is significantly not as described, and we'll work with you to make it right. Please don't use a shop's feedback as a sounding board; we're easy to work with and are here to help you!
Buyers outside the US: We love you! Please be aware, though, that you are responsible for any taxes, VAT fees, or other fees imposed by your country. If you do not pay these fees, items may be returned to us by your postal service. You will then be responsible for any re-shipping costs. Items returned to us for any reason that you do not pay to reship in a timely manner (30 days or fewer) will be considered abandoned and returned to inventory.
With the continuing challenges of managing a shop during a pandemic, we have had to make some changes. We now ship a maximum of twice weekly as items are being taken directly to the post office to a secure drop-box. Most shipping, except for jewelry and some very lightweight items, is via tracked Priority Mail.

At our sole discretion, we are now covering insurance for more expensive overseas items. Insurance is ALWAYS available as an upgrade, so please consider it just so you have that extra assurance in case things go awry!

Do note that COVID-19 has affected shipping times across the board for US destinations as well as for overseas. While most items are arriving roughly on the expected timeline, others are taking much, much longer than usual. We are not responsible for any delays that happen that are outside of our personal control.

US expedited/Express shipping is SOMETIMES available for an additional fee. Contact us before purchasing any item(s) you need expedited in order to arrange for this upgrade.

Be sure your Etsy address is correct and up to date when placing an order. We aren't responsible for items marked as DELIVERED that have been misplaced or stolen after delivery, so do make sure you are shipping to a secure location.
Additional policies and FAQs
We are not responsible for lost or damaged items, but if you would like to purchase insurance for your item, let us know at time of purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get this dress, but in my size?

Sorry, each garment in our shop is authentic vintage, dating from between 20 to 80 years old. We generally only have the one piece shown.

If you love it and it fits, consider buying it, since it's unlikely you'll find it again easily.

I have vintage to sell. Interested?

If you have classic 1930s to 1960s vintage that fits our shop's aesthetic, absolutely! We pay fairly, generally 1/3 of retail, sometimes even more. Shoot us a note with details of what you'd like to sell if you are outside the area, or set up an appointment to sell if you are in the Portland, OR metroplex!

Note: consignment services are now available on a select basis for stellar collections. Please contact us for information.

I love this, but I need more time to pay for it. Do you offer layaway?

Sure do! Convo us for an info sheet about it.

Can I come try this on in person? Shop your collection?

Due to time constraints and social distancing we are no longer able to offer shopping appointments, local pick up, or in-person try on sessions. Buying appointments, if you have vintage to sell, are still available and are done in the safest way possible -- we can arrange for distance buying, or you may now come visit our lovely 1918 front porch to sell!
