The name of this shop comes from my own little Eva Gabor story. I worked on Park Ave for while, and now live in a small town on a green acre. Here I graphic design and mother and paint the wide expanses I missed so much. Every artist highlights certain aspects of our human experience: my hope is to bring glimpses of the eternal and transcendent into your homes and lives.

Updates

One of my most favorite recent paintings is now in the shop. It's large size is perfect over a mantle or sofa, and it's gorgeous colors would really make a room come alive.
The east coast may be gray today, but this new listing is anything but!

About

It all began in 1899.

That's the year my great grandmother was born. She was an oil painter, and I still use her palette, brushes, and paints that were passed down to me. My grandmother is a watercolor painter. I spent many childhood afternoons in her art studio learning from her. My mother is incredibly creative in every way except artistically (she claims). And now, my kids happily spend their days creating in a very messy dining room.

Full circle, I'd say.

I've done art all my life, and pretty much every medium available, including sheep wool. But it wasn't until a few years ago, after the encouragement of my husband, that I dove into oils and acrylics. And now, I think, he misses seeing me :)

My works are an exploration into things unseen. Painting has freed me to create worlds much like our own, but in colors and abstractions that make them just a bit different. So many of the places I read about growing up ...Narnia, Middle Earth, etc... had just that: much of the familiar, but also much of things I'd never imagined. In this artistic journey, my paint brushes have become my typewriter. I hope my work encourages us to remember that the here and now is not all there is. And I hope it transports us upward. That when we've been sucked into our groundedness, our earthliness...we can look at a piece and be reminded of transcendence.

My parents cut off cable T.V. when I was a young teenager. I thought it was the end of the world. Turns out it wasn't. I dove into watercoloring and crafting and sewing and basket making and you get the idea.

Shipping
Unless asked otherwise, I ship via USPS Priority mail within 5 business days after your payment has cleared. Unless otherwise noted within the item listing, I wrap the painting in bubble wrap, then pack it into sturdy cardboard boxes with crumpled newspaper cushioning it on all sides.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do not sell paintings 'upon approval'. This means that I cannot accept a return if it doesn't match or you change your mind. That is not something I can do at these prices, which I try to keep affordable. I work hard to have clear and accurate photos. If you just aren't sure about the painting or its colors, I will be happy to send more photos with close ups. Please be sure you love the painting before you purchase it.

If a painting is damaged during shipping, I can work out a return and refund with you.

All items come from a smoke-free home, and were most likely painted while the Freakonomics podcast played in the background. It’s like Mozart for your plants.
