    About

BrisingBeads Designs - inspired by beauty, handmade with joy.

Scandinavian myth tells the story of the Goddess Freya. Her search for knowledge brought her to a secret cave, which was home to four dwarves. These dwarves were master craftsmen, each keeper of the sacred mysteries associated with their elemental names.
East honored Air, element of new beginnings, of thought and inspiration.
South held sacred the Fire of transformation, of passion.
West represented Water, the cauldron of rebirth, the tides of emotion.
North, guardian of Earth, brought forth stability, protection and the ability to withstand anything.
With these dwarves, Freya shared her wisdom of love, the greatest mystery. In honor of this, the dwarves created a magickal necklace, “the Brisingamen”, as a gift to the Goddess.
    ***
Years ago, I heard this myth and was captured by the idea of creating jewelry that women would treasure, because the piece made them feel strong or beautiful, or both. So often, women forget their uniqueness, their power. My hope is that the necklaces I create bring some of that magic back.

For over 25 years, I have been inspired by gemstones, vintage artifacts, and textiles. I also dislike recreating designs, so each piece is one of a kind. I think this enhances the specialness of both the design and the wearer. I've lost count of how many necklaces I've made over the years, (probably around 5000!) but I'm so happy to know that so many are out in the world, spreading love and joy and strength. I think Freya is proud too.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to BrisingBeads. I've been creating bead embroidery jewelry for over 20 years. Give me some seed beads, felt, needle and thread, and I'm a happy beader. I'm inspired by nature, mythology, my garden, and lots of color.

    • Jaynee Michaels

      Designer

While Jaynee has created art for many years, she recently added bead embroidery and wire wrapping to her talents. Look for her nature and garden photos, wildly embellished with druzies and beads.

    • Margie (Mama)

      Assistant

BrisingBeads Designs would not be the same without all of the help we get from The Mama (aka Marge). Mama LOVES to felt. She makes all of the window pane scarves. She irons any scarves that need it. Mama also needle felts many of the bracelets.

Welcome to BrisingBeads Designs. We offer one of a kind bead embroidery jewelry designs, specializing in necklaces, bracelets and earrings for all occasions. We use many different gemstones, crystals and beads in our designs, as well as art cabochons and found objects.

We recently added a line of felted designs, using nuno felting techniques and needle felting. Look for our felted necklaces, bracelets, belts, and scarves.

BrisingBeads was created in 1991 as a way to honor the Goddess in every woman. Each piece of jewelry created is as one of a kind as its wearer. Each design is created with this in mind. And remember, life is too short for boring jewelry.
