Jwhite started in Detroit with art, experiments in DIY Screenprinting and a passion for thrifting. Since the beginning Jessica has used water based, eco friendly inks and utilized secondhand & vintage clothing as her canvas.. Jwhite's prints are all handmade and hand drawn from her original artwork. In her early years she hand painted the stencils directly onto her screens creating raw and bold prints onto all types of upcycled clothing. From 2002-2009 Jwhite showcased in galleries, festivals and events around Detroit - Dally In The Alley & Detroit Electronic Music Festival is where it all began, and she would continue to return for years to come!

2010-2020 Self taught, Jwhite moved to NYC to learn and better her craft. Here she learned to sew and created her clothing line Jwhite Original which she launched and went full time with in 2012. For the next 8 years she did countless pop ups, fashion shows and markets in NYC. Her handmade streetwear, with original cuts got her into many notable venues & events such as Afro Punk Brooklyn, Brooklyn Museum, Atlantic Antic, Fort Greene's Soul Summit and Artists Fleas.
Her sister Amy a henna artist, partnered with the Jwhite Original traveling shop and together they toured NYC and eventually began running their own vendor markets at House Of Yes and curating the Eco Market at Earth Love Fest.

2020 to present the pandemic brought Jessica back to her homestate of Michigan, now in the north to be closer to her immediate family who have migrated there over the past 20 years.
Jwhite launched her sustainable studio & shop Market Mercado in the small town of Indian River in 2021. This seasonal store showcases Jwhite Original and over 30 artisans local to global - specializing in handmade, upcycled and secondhand goods. Open Memorial weekend through Christmas, summer is its busy season with tourists visiting the northern lakes.

Amy and Jessica, continued their market tradition and created the Indian River Night Bazaar, an ongoing artisan market at Northland Brew.

In 2022 Jessica launched La Casa De Rosas, an authentic Mexican food truck with her Chef husband Rodrigo.
