Announcement   An avid gardener and a degree in fashion design has given me such an appreciation for color, shape & beauty.

I have spent many late nights creating a new line of floral cards, a bit abstract, but not overdone. This collection I've titled Wicked Beautiful Flowers. My goal was to offer the classics, roses, sunflowers, coneflowers, morning glories and some pretty interesting abstract grasses and botanicals. This collection was made from my garden photographs which were so beautiful & prolific with blooms & colors during the summers.

This is my 5th year having licensed my floral and botanical art to a wonderful company here in Ohio who offers them through major online retailers in various sizes of canvas.

If you love an image you see here on Etsy and would like it as home decor, there are over 350 images available at www.walmart.com, (shipped free to your store), www.wayfair.com, www.amazon, www.staples.com, www.overstock.com, www.sears.com, www.homedepot.com & ww.kmart.com. Just enter my name in the search bar to find them. I love the fact they are all made right here in the USA (Ohio).

Many images are also available custom framed, metal, acrylic, and canvas at my website, www.kathie-mccurdy.artistwebsites.com.

My inspiration for my art and cards? The flowers, the colors, the shapes, and the composition of putting them together. The absolute beauty and magic of these things that grow all over the earth and give us so much...fragrance, beauty, memories, the design and color is mind-boggling.

My message is simple; stop and take in the fragrance of the garden and gaze upon the botanical world given to us to love and enjoy. Take the time to love, listen, understand, spread peace, appreciate and enjoy the beauty.

Thank you for stopping by ...all the best to you.

The cards were better than I expected! The paper they are printed on is very high quality. The bonus card was very sweet :)

These cards turned out beautiful. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Kathy was actually finished making Christmas cards when I requested this pansy card. I'm so thankful she decided to do a few more sets. I'll be back again for another design.

About

Girl Steals Flowers & Gets Caught

It all started when I was 5. I was caught picking the neighbor's spirea branches off her huge bush. This little old lady was not happy with me, dragged me home to my parents and give them an earful of how I was stealing her flowers. Come on, a huge bush, overloaded with May blooms! Would they really be noticed as missing? My mom quietly closed the door, smiled and dubbed me "the flower girl", a name she always called me. I absolutely love flowers and can't ever get enough of them.

Well, after many years of gardening, and then becoming a mom, I left my job to stay home with my baby son. It was then that I started to press flowers which lighted the gray, Ohio winter days. In 1999, I began selling my art and cards at local galleries and shops, attending art shows when I could squeeze them in, and somewhere along the line in 2006, I discovered Etsy. Fantastic! A venue to get them out to the world which then lead to a company in Ohio who saw my work on Etsy. I was offered a contract to license my images to sell on canvas through online retailers...Walmart, Kmart, Amazon, Sears, Penney's & Overstock and others.

My reply when shoppers at art shows ask me if the flowers come from my garden?
" Well, yes, but I do tell my neighbors, I can't be trusted". That big, beautiful purple clematis vine is calling my name. And in public spaces, alive with blooms, that's what I call a "drive by picking" :)

The garden grows, the story continues...

I've always been a gardener. This all started when I was 9 and participated in a community garden program through a local school in the summer. I went on to study art and fashion design in Cleveland, Ohio and now design floral cards and art.
