Sharing a picture of all the new colors I printed for you this season. Last year the blue tea towels were an Editors Pick on Etsy! These are not just pretty, but also super functional in your kitchen as they are highly absorbent and get softer over time!

About

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

A few years ago, while on a glacier hike in Iceland, I had an epiphany of what my life should and shouldn't be, and how conquering even small fears could reveal a landscape previously unimaginable. I decided it was time for a life change, choosing to move on from a job that had provided stability, in favor of spending more time with family and pursuing interests I hadn’t previously had time to explore. During a block printing class, I found that I was able to carve freeform designs similar to the ones I spent hours drawing while growing up – except this time, instead of remaining tucked away inside a notebook, the designs could be printed and shared.

I am always fascinated by the way each print ultimately reveals itself, down to the density of the ink, and the positioning of the design. The beauty of this process lies within these subtle variations; I love that no two prints will ever be exactly alike.

To me, block printing is about slowing down and enjoying a hands-on process. Hand carving blocks, inking the brayer, and delighting in the beautiful and unique imperfections of each hand-pulled print each play a part in what draws me to this art form.

Almost all of my carving is freehand, without a sketch or specific design laid out ahead of time. I usually have an idea of the general shape or pattern I’d like to start with, but the details come to life as I begin to carve into the soft block.

I’m a one person operation working out of my home studio (and by that, I mean my tiny kitchen table in our Brooklyn apartment). I manage the shop, order my own supplies, meticulously carve my designs into soft blocks, hand print each item, and carefully package and ship each item myself, taking care to make sure the item reaches your hands intact and undamaged. I also try to present it in a way that will hopefully add a little cheer to your day.

It's a priority for me to seek partnerships with sustainably-minded vendors, and I also do my best to incorporate eco-friendly and recycled materials whenever possible.

If you have followed me this far, thank you!
