A Full Circle.

My life journey so far has taken me in a full circle, back to the city where I was born. In 2006 I moved to Indonesia to teach English but found myself back in Bath in 2013.
My passion for making jewellery began in Indonesia, where I lived for almost 8 years. It started as a hobby, sitting on my floor with a group of friends and a bag of beads. Creating accessories quickly became an obsession which was infectious to others. Spending hours, sometimes until 5 am, to finish a new piece. Any spare moment I had, when I wasn't teaching, was used either by creating jewellery or buying beads and findings.
As interest grew in my work, I began to make money from my hobby, by selling in boutiques and partaking in art and craft fairs. My jewellery is unique, in that only one is ever made of a certain design. I like to use an amalgamation of types of beads: metal, shell, wood, glass, plastic, acrylic, ceramic, material and semi precious stones. The juxtaposition of colours and textures are aesthetically pleasing and used in a bold, fun way. I love re-inventing charity shop finds by cutting them up and adding new beads so they metamorphosise into a completely unique piece. My love of nature and colour also inspire my work.
Since settling back in Bath with a little one, I've continued my love of making bespoke jewellery and started a business from it. My recent re-branding inspired a new name, kalung means necklace in Indonesian. The combination of the two languages works well I think. Thanks for visiting Kalung Creations.

The use of perfume, creams, deodorant and the like directly onto jewellery may discolour and damage beads.
Hang jewellery rather than bundle it up.
