Kambriel designs have been worn on the Academy Awards red carpet by master storyteller Neil Gaiman, on stage by musicians such as Amanda Palmer and Information Society, and were personally selected by curator Valerie Steele to be featured in the iconic "Gothic: Dark Glamour" exhibit at the Museum at FIT in NYC.

Elegantly ethereal, handcrafted clothing and accessory designs for "Femme Fatales and Decadent Gentlemen", since 1994. Through the years, I've held dear to my original passion by creating unique pieces that bring the reflection of your inner-self onto your outer-self; clothing and accessories that bring you a little closer to your dreams...

Gorgeous, so unusual. Your whole shop is so full of artistry and beauty. Even the box my items were sent in was a work of art I will keep. I pasted the postcard and little card on it too, for extra beauty. Thanks so much, Kambriel.

About

Kambriel - Fantastical Designs for Femme Fatales and Decadent Gentlemen since 1994

As Kambriel wrote in her introduction for the premiere collection in 1994, "Being true to yourself is more of an internal quest, but everthing that is buried deep inside rises to the surface eventually. This is where we come in... the reflection of your inner-self onto your outer-self. Clothing that brings you a little closer to your dreams."

Called "Queen of couturiers" by author Neil Gaiman, Kambriel's designs were selected by Dr. Valerie Steele for inclusion in a major exhibit at the Museum at FIT in NYC, and she was personally interviewed for the "Gothic: Dark Glamour" book which commemorated this iconic curated collection where Kambriel's designs were displayed alongside those of Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and John Paul Gaultier. The Kambriel Midnight Bustle design was used to promote the exhibit opening for Fall Fashion Week in NYC in "Time Out New York" for their "Own This City" highlight, while the Isabella Coatdress ~ also frequently used to promote the exhibit, has appeared in Elle Magazine, and other publications around the world, from Russia to Brazil.

Kambriel was presented the Gothic Beauty "Designer of the Year" award in 2005 & selected as the costume designer for a major Edward Gorey inspired theatrical dance performance for the Boston Celebrity Series which went on to tour in Tokyo, Japan and St, Petersburg, Russia. Her designs have also been used in a stage production of Oscar Wilde's "Salomé" and selected to lend a macabre, yet elegant atmosphere for the Animal Rescue League of Boston's first ever "Moonlight Ball" charity event.

Kambriel's created custom designs for a wide range of clients throughout the years, ranging from comedienne Margaret Cho to grand dame of the punk cabaret Amanda Palmer, along with Information Society, Faith & the Muse, Neil Gaiman (who wore his custom Kambriel designs on the Oscars red carpet while attending for the Academy Award nominated film "Coraline" as well as for his wedding), and many more ~ some of whom have been clients, collaborators, inspirations, and friends for well over a decade.

When friend & fellow independent designer Laura Purdy of The Pale Court died tragically young, Kambriel volunteered to complete all of Laura's unfinished work. She spent an entire year sorting, puzzling together, and finishing them all, then photographed the collection in the UK countryside (a place Laura always longed to go) for a fashion editorial as well as a tribute fashion show in New Orleans to preserve Laura's memory and the legacy of her designs.

Kambriel's theatrical fashion show vignettes have been performed across the country from Salem, Massachusetts (where Kambriel's fashion show was filmed by the Discovery Channel for their Halloween special), to New York City, Tampa, Portland, Seattle, Cambridge, Boston and Chicago.

Kambriel's designs have been described as being "too beautiful for the red carpet, there needs to be some kind of ethereal gold and silver carpet that shifts colors at will!"
