Thanks for visiting KaranKoron. "Karan koron" is the Japanese equivelant of “clip clop,” the sound that wooden sandals make when you walk down the street.

I moved to Japan in 2009 and became obsessed with textile design and kimono. I began studying kitsuke (the art of dressing in kimono) and I really enjoy hunting for interesting kimono and accessories. This shop is an outlet to support that hobby. I'm always looking for longer (over 160cm long) vintage kimono and items with more unusual motifs (such as leaves, feathers, insects, and fashionable abstract designs), because I know they're hard to find, especially for kitsuke students in foreign countries.

If you have any questions about an item, please send me a message!

***All my items are stored in a smoke-free, pet-free environment. But since silk kimono aren't washable, they may retain a scent from their former owner's home.***

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I only accept payment via PayPal.

If you would like me to hold an item for you, please contact me.
Shipping
For most items, I charge a flat $15 fee (per item) for uninsured international airmail (no tracking number). If you want insurance or a tracking number on your order, please let me know. It will cost extra, and the shipping method may need to change, particularly for silk items, which can be quite heavy.

Japan Post has many weight and size restrictions for their various shipping methods. If you purchase multiple items, they may need to be shipped separately in order to be cost-effective. I'll notify you if your purchases will need to be shipped separately.

If the shipping address is in certain countries (primarily Africa, Central and South America, the Arab world, and the countries of the former Soviet Union), I insist on sending the package with insurance and tracking if possible. In that case, I will contact you.
Refunds and Exchanges
Sorry, but there are no refunds or exchanges. All these items are vintage or used, so please expect some level of damage. I do my best to document any stains, damage, or unusually strong scents (mothballs, perfume, etc) on an item.
Additional policies and FAQs
Love a certain motif? Need a particular color obiage? I can offer a "personal shopper" service if you're looking for a specific item. Please contact me!
