Pyrografika Ink & Fire

Seattle, Washington | 150 Sales

Announcement    Artwork humbly inspired by the traditions of the Pacific, done with pyrography on wood, and ink on paper.

Years ago, my best friend gave me a simple hobbyist's wood burning tool. That gift began something I had never envisioned. I didn't grow up thinking I'd be an artist one day, and certainly not one specializing in items inspired by the Pacific Islands. I was just playing around with that wood burner, looked around our house for inspiration, and began drawing ideas from the i'e lava lava (samoan sarong) that my teenagers often left draped everywhere. You see, we have a very diverse family. My husband is Filipino, as is my best friend. I have Samoan, Cambodian, Filipino, and French/Irish grandchildren, and that's not even getting into our Aiga (extended family & friends). I have always been fascinated by the beauty of repetitive patterns, and I find endless inspiration in the traditions of the Philippines, Samoa, and beyond. Each item I work on is a revelation, and I often feel as if the design is creating itself. It is hard to take credit for their beauty, and that keeps me quite humbled. The world is an amazing place, and I hope that my work will inspire you to look beyond your own borders to see the beauty in it's diversity.

Why I Do What I Do...

In short, I do this for my family, for my children and grandchildren, and for my husband. We are a mixed bunch, and proud of all the bloodlines that run through us. This all started with the gift of a wood burning tool from my best friend, and an i'e lava lava thrown over the couch. The rest is... well, not history, because it's on going, but what it has become is my life, and my passion.

Tuloy po Kayo! Talofa! Welcome to my Studio!

My shop is full of items that I have detailed by hand, inspired by my grandchildren's mixed heritages, from the Philippines to Samoa, and all around the Pacific. It is my blessing to be able to set an example for them to pursue their passions, and to find pride in the traditions of those who came before them.

I do hope you find something to love among my creations.

Salaamat po, fa'afetai, and thank you, for your visit!

Returns and exchange details
1) If you change your mind, for whatever reason, please cancel your order as quickly as possible. My items are ready to ship, and are often packaged & taken to the Post Office on the same day as your order is received.

2) I take a photo of each item before shipping beside all packaging to be used, and after packaging is complete with printed shipping label. Exchanges and returns will be made on any items that may be received damaged in transit. Please take a photo IMMEDIATELY upon receipt with all packaging to verify the incident. This is to facilitate a claim with USPS for negligence in delivery.

3) Personalized items require a non-refundable, pre-paid deposit. This is because such items cannot be resold to someone else, and so the cost of materials must be covered. Please keep this in mind when making such requests.
Payment
I am currently accepting payment through PayPal. Sales tax is included in the selling price of all sales.
Shipping
I will ship all items to anywhere in the world, provided payment is received up front and the customer understands that shipping costs will be based on the current post office rates, taxes, and tariffs, for the size of the package being sent. Shipping times will also vary based on policies of each country. Please be aware of this before purchasing.
Additional policies and FAQs
I would love to make something special for you, and will gladly take commissions.

Be advised, however, that such personalization requires that a portion of the cost be non-refundable, as the design will be unique to you, and the item un-saleable, should you decide not to go through with your purchase. This non-refundable amount would cover materials and design development.
