A really beautiful book! The black-and-white illustrations, like photos from a new friend's old album, almost seem to leave a thin sliver of space that separates the reader from the narrative within. There is something intangible about the poems and illustrations, as if they are fragments of a stranger's dream strung together by a single thread on which the reader is walking. It really makes the reader wonder who the "permanent resident" is, stuck in a liminal state of never truly belonging, and where their heart currently resides. I really enjoyed reading the poems in both English and Japanese!! <3 I wish I could leave a few photos, but my terrible photography skills probably wouldn't do the book any justice... I sincerely loved the book, though!
