At Katherine Summer we are committed to options far beyond those available in the mass retail market. Your couture gown will be an extraordinary statement of your individuality and self-expression.

Our sublime color selection contains dozens of subtle or vibrant hues to suit any mood, and our lace supplier is one of the most exclusive worldwide.

In addition, we love to create our own embroideries, beaded ornamentations, and surface textures.

Creating gowns with masterful workmanship, sublime fit and extraordinary detail is my calling. Hidden support and shaping layers are built into each gown for maximum comfort and user simplicity. Our alteration services for luxury brand gowns are second to none.

We pride ourselves in our ability to work on gowns at the most opulent price point. However, we strive to create a service atmosphere that is relaxed, low-key, and personable. We don’t do snobby and intimidating. It’s important that you can use your time with us to decompress from the stress of wedding planning or just life's daily little challenges.

All patterning, cutting, sewing, and embellishing is lovingly worked in our downtown Martinez studio, central to Contra Costa, Solano, and Sonoma counties. Our location offers easy access from all points in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we have clients who love us enough to come from as far away as Santa Cruz, and Sacramento

*************CUSTOM ORDERS***************

Any custom work under $200 must be paid in full before I begin. For custom orders over $200 I require a 50% deposit up front; the remainder is due when I finish the piece and is required before shipment.

Once I begin constructing the piece I can sometimes make small changes to the design as per your request, but any big changes will significantly affect the price of the garment. I can give you a rough estimate of how long I think it will take to execute the requested changes, but for these types of changes I will charge by the hour. So it is essential to finalize the design of the garment before I begin construction.

Example #1) You want a shirt with puff sleeves, and we have finalized this decision. I make the pattern. You then decide that you don't like puff sleeves--you want cap sleeves instead. I will add the cost of the new patternmaking, and I will charge by-the-hour to draft the new pattern.

Example #2) Same situation as example #1, but this time I have already made the pattern, cut the fabric, and sewn the original sleeves in place. I will charge by-the-hour to take out the sleeve, make the new pattern, cut it from the fabric (and I may have to purchase more if I dont't have enough left, which will also add to the cost), and sew it into place again.

Example #3) You want a blue dress with red top-stitching. I have cut the dress but have not yet begun sewing. You decide that you want cream top-stitching instead. No problem. I haven't started sewing yet, and I have lots of cream thread already. No additional charges.

Occasionally, as I am constructing a piece, I can see that something about the design is not working or needs some type of adjustment. In this scenario, I will not make any changes without discussing the costs and getting your permission first.
All shipping is through the United States Postal Service.
Refunds and Exchanges
No refunds or exchanges on custom work.

If an item is damaged upon arrival or has some sort of failure on the FIRST wearing, I will happily repair it for you, and I will cover the shipping costs. This does not apply if the item was damaged in transit or if it has been worn more than once.

If a ready-to-wear item does not meet your satisfaction, please return it to me for a refund or exchange. Please note that refunds/exchanges will be granted AFTER I have received the item and judged it to be damage free.
Additional policies and FAQs
I charge a premium for rush custom orders IF I am able to take them at all. My rush rate depends on the deadline, but expect to pay at least double.

All designs are original and © Katherinesummer 2008 - 2010. Do not copy or alter my designs in any way without permission. Convo me if you wish to purchase design rights.

When doing a fitting or taking your measurements, make sure that you are wearing shoes with the appropriate heel-height and the undergarments that you intend to wear with your garment. THIS IS ESSENTIAL in achieving a proper fit.
