Moondapple is unique art for your home and life
noun | moon·dap·ple | \ˈmün- da-pəl\
1. Light from a full moon that comes through trees at night to settle on the ground.
2. Original, light-friendly, beaded art from Katheryn Hill.
Artist Katheryn Hill is a new transplant from Austin, TX and she’s loving The Fort! Inspired by all the bike riding around here, she recently began creating bicycle wheel art. Katheryn is always finding ways to recycle objects and transform them using beads of all sorts, including semi-precious stones, glass, acrylic, wood, wire, and - the magic ingredient – light. The resulting creations are as unique as they are beautiful.
And she doesn’t just work with beads either. Legos are an important part of many of her creations. In fact, a Lego lamp she built was featured in The Lego Movie in 2014 (check out her website to get a look at it).
It all started in Seattle. While living there in the early 2000s, Katheryn was looking for a way to make more money to help make ends meet. She wound up teaching herself how to make jewelry and began selling it in local stores. After years of accumulating inventory, she had the idea to harness the reflective power of the beads by incorporating light into her designs. The result was her first Moondapple lamp.
You can view the full spectrum of Katheryn’s work, from beaded lampshades to Lego Lamps to beaded bicycle wheels, at www.moondapple.com. Katheryn also works on commission, having created numerous custom order lamps, so if you are interested in custom order bicycle wheel art feel free to contact her.
Katheryn lives in Fort Collins, CO, by way of Austin, TX, by way of Seattle, WA, by way of Texas. She has lived in great places! Two kids, recruits for technical positions when she isn't beading or playing with lego.

For custom orders, you have a lot of options. These decisions will effect the date of completion of the lamp, and shipping time. It can be overwhelming to shoppers who have an idea of what they want but are not sure which options to choose. This will be an heirloom, so I want to take the time to talk over your options, make recommendations about the size you want the lamp, the material of the base, the size of the shade, the materials used to make the shade, color themes, charm themes, photo frames included, etc.
Recommendations: I recommend a minimum of 5 main colors for the shade.
I recommend a mixture of beaded materials to include semi precious stones, glass, wood, horn, acrylic, silver and pewter as options. You can decide to only have semi precious stones and glass, or only freshwater pearls, etc. for a more dramatic effect or to best fit the lamp into a specific room in your home, and that will effect the cost.
If you want your lamp sooner, then we can discuss what I have available in my inventory to make it for you as soon as possible.
I am happy you want a moondapple lamp and I will do everything I can to make you the lamp you envision. The beads each vary in color and size and shade and that means that each lamp is magnificently unique.
All shipping amounts on shop items are estimated.
