I created a custom print for a penguin enthusiast as a last minute gift idea today. Small text below the image says 'Christmas 2015'. The frame is hand painted with chalk paint in a shabby chic style and lightly distressed.

About

Whimsical art for the young at heart.

“The art I create is made with the brilliant colours of childhood juxtaposed with the bold lines of adult life”. The contrast in my work explains how I balance being a creative professional while satisfying my urge to build, explore, and play.

Art was always one of the best teachers in my life, it taught me how to express my emotions, develop fine-tuned motor skills, communicate better and see things through a new perspective. Now that I’m older, I am proud to call myself a full-time artist at home in the studio.

I am a firm believer that it is possible to maintain a high quality of life while following one’s passions. To me, the starving artist stereotype is harmful because it dissuades people from being creators. The world can never have enough people who inject inspiration into the hearts of our communities. Whether it’s serious or a bit silly, art should be treated with the same respect as any other profession: it requires time, practice, skill, patience and effort — just like anything else. When people see my paintings and smile for the first time, it’s one of the most rewarding feelings on the planet, that transcends money or success.

My most recent work is a reflection on the process of creation. For me, each twirl of the paintbrush is a way to come back to the present moment, a way to slow down and feel each movement with greater intensity. While the finished product will always be only steps away, it is important to embrace each moment.

Refunds and Exchanges
Guarantee Policy:

Ensuring you have a positive experience purchasing my artwork is a top priority for me. I’ve tried to make the process of purchasing artwork on-line as seamless as possible. I frequently hear that my paintings look better in real life than in a photograph because the texture of the black lines really stand out. So, if you like an image on-line, I think you will like it even better in person.

To help make your experience worry free, I offer a 100% money back guarantee within the first 15 days of purchase on all original artwork, art cards and prints (not including custom prints). Please contact me immediately if you have any questions or concerns about your order. No question is too big or small kathy [!at] kathylycka.com.

Custom Orders:

Unfortunately, due to the nature of custom prints and custom painting projects I’m unable to offer a full money back guarantee on these items. However, I have developed a process where your approval is required every step of the way and your feedback is welcome and encouraged. When we work together to create a custom piece I provide pencil sketch proofs, colour listings and an image of your finished work before I ship it out. All these steps are to safeguard against surprises. Visit my ‘Made For You’ section for a full, detailed write-up of the process on my website www.KathyLycka.com.

If for any reason you are unhappy with your custom order please contact me at kathy [!at] kathylycka.com and I will do everything I can to rectify the issue immediately.
