That is the philosophy behind my shop, Enchantments by Kathy Welsh. I strive to create beautiful jewelry pieces that bring joy and positive energy to the wearer. I believe we can all create happiness and beauty in our own small way and that is what inspires me each day in my sunny studio in Tempe, AZ.

I use a combination of vintage, re-purposed and new materials as well as semi precious stones to create each unique piece. Trained as an artist with a Bachelor's degree in studio art, I took my love of color, composition and texture and applied it to jewelry making. I love to "paint" with beads and find new and innovative ways to incorporate my artist's training into each piece I create.

My process begins with looking at the materials at hand and playing with different combinations. Once I have the combination I like, I begin to create the piece, paying close attention to scale, color, and wearability. It's the organic unfolding of the piece as it is created that gives me the deepest sense of satisfaction and joy. Sending these beauty ambassadors out into the world is my second favorite part of my job!

I believe that handmade is special and has much value in our current society of instant gratification and anonymity. Knowing someone designed, created and packaged an item specifically for you creates a human connection we are often missing in today's world.
