Each spring I look forward to spotting birds that signal spring is here, which inspired the creation of this illustration. So far I’ve seen a few robins and heard plenty of red-winged blackbirds!

About

Because I'm bad at talking about my feelings...

Hi, I'm Katie! I’m an illustrator/author/hand-letterer/graphic designer living in a small city in Upstate NY. I design my own line of greeting cards, prints and other stationery products, which are sold both online and in brick and mortar shops across North America. I also work with a variety of clients on branding, packaging design, and illustration projects.

My little studio is decorated with little house plants and a hot pink couch. My window looks out into the woods behind our house, and chirping birds are the soundtrack to most mornings. Hand drawn stuff makes my heart happy. I love seeing this unique and imperfect human quality that comes out in hand drawn illustration. Whenever I see things out in the world that are created in that style, I feel connected to the art. It usually inspires me to stop whatever I’m doing and make something with my hands.

Do you ever feel something emotionally, but can’t ever find the right words to say it? That’s me. I’m terrible at talking about my feelings, but not terrible at writing them down on paper. When it comes to my greeting card line, my art captures the sticky sweet, awkward but funny, sometimes emotionally heavy things I want to say to the people I care about. If you want to say something special to the person you care about, my cards have got you covered.

I particularly love polka dots and cats. When I’m not drawing cute things, I’m usually baking or dreaming of the next place I want to visit (Finland, anyone?). I’m inspired by cozy color palettes, vintage knick-knacks, flowers, mid-century children's book illustrations, the feel and smell of paper, and things that look happy (like cats or cake).

In addition to running a stationery company, I also work as a freelance illustrator and designer. I’ve illustrated and authored an adult coloring book, called DON'T WORRY, EAT CAKE, which was published in 2016 with Andrews McMeel, and am currently working on two new books, MAKE YOURSELF COZY and THE ESCAPE MANUAL FOR INTROVERTS due out in 2018 and 2019 respectively, also from Andrews McMeel.

My illustrations and paper goods have been featured on sites like BuzzFeed, Woman’s Day, POPSUGAR, Real Simple, and Design Sponge.

Custom illustration inquiries are welcome! Please know that I cannot customize current designs on my products, as they are already printed and packaged! I am happy to discuss new custom designs though.

Sustainability

Whenever possible, I use environmentally friendly materials in my production. All greeting cards and prints are designed and printed in the USA on 100% recycled American-made paper. I support other small businesses by printing those products at local mom-and-pop shops.
