Katinka is a 5th generation Texan and descends from a long line of gunsmiths and sewing machine repairmen. she designs and fabricates fancy bits and bobs in her tree-top workshop and enjoys bike rides and estate sales. she likes old stuff. alot. the more broke-down the better. Her inspirations include but are not limited to: rusty metal, chipping paint, feed sack fabric, antique lace, Victorian architecture, heirloom jewels, and memories of spending Texas summers at her grandparent's home in central Austin where she learned the art of sewing from her grandmother, miss Dot Petmecky. When she is not crafting frocks and adornments, she shares her time with her husband restoring their pink Victorian farmhouse, caring for their rescue pups, and curating collections in her antique & curiosity shop, Bower Bird.

Through careful sourcing of materials (with an emphasis on utilizing vintage & up-cycling) and production/fabrication solely from her San Marcos, Texas studio, Katinka hopes to raise awareness of the importance of handmade goods and how these factors can contribute to a prosperous and sustainable local economy.
