Reading through the patterns are a delight; so full of personality that I feel like Kat is talking to me. I'm not through the coat or hoodie pattern yet but I've read through the entirety of arm warmers. I do hope that the patterns touch on how to best "felt wool" and which wool blends to look for/stay away from. If not, she did leave a nice link for a book that I bet has that information in it. Thank you for this, Kat! I appreciate you sharing your art-love baby. Someday I will be lucky enough to grab a hoodie but until my gotchya day, I'm going to spend time with my serger and my own little pile of fluffy chaos!

I love Katwise's tutorials so much! Her infectious personality comes out in her writing and her instructions are clear and accessible for the beginner. Great if you are intimidated by patterns. I bought all three and I can't wait to try these.

It’s has been well worth the hunt for my wife’s very own Katwise masterpiece 👩🏽🎨. The packaging was placed on the table by my son before I got home and my wife happen to notice the package. This package 📦 is awesome, it has that personal touch that is a glimpse into the happiness your purchase will provide. It was then that my wife noticed the tag at the top, “Katwise.” My phone explodes with text message about this package on the table and her excitement is barely contain. I arrive home to lay my eyes on this incredible item of enjoyment for me, and turn to my wife. I hand the package to her as I have cut the top open to reveal the prize I have been working to order. She pulls out what can only be described as pure art. Thank you for granting such joy to me and warmth and mind blowing clothing for my wife. Good luck to all, #PLUR
Katwise Upcycled Sweater Coats
These are my original sweater designs which have evolved with much love over the past 20 years of my world wanderings. I make everything myself, in the attic of my rainbow colored house. I want you to wear one of my sweaters and feel comforted by the good intentions I tried to weave into it.
I hit the Etsy jackpot and my shop got crazy popular to the point where it is hard to keep up with demand. Now I have a big sweater sale once a month with about 50 new sweaters. If you would like to see previews of my upcoming sweaters, please check out my lively Facebook page. (www.katwise.com/facebook)
Between sales I sell my tutorials to teach you how to make your own Katwise style coats. Recycled sweater coats have become a bit of a trend here on etsy, and this shop is where it all started. Since my shop has gotten well known, lots of people on Etsy have started using my name "Katwise" on their listings, please don't mistake them for me!
For a dose of art and adventure (i do a lot more than just make sweaters!), I invite you to stroll around my website - WWW.KATWISE.COM.
I am Kat O'Sullivan - I make everything you see here all with my own 2 hands. I Make every cut, sew every stitch, pose awkwardly for every photo, and answer every message.... It keeps me busy!
Please keep in mind that each piece is one of a kind and made from recycled garments, so they may have a little more *character* than store bought, mass produced things. I do my best to choose quality knits, then reassemble them with with love and care. But these are handmade and often vintage items, so be prepared for the occasional charming imperfection.
Please join me on facebook for a peek at upcoming sweaters!

Additional policies and FAQs
Q: Do you do custom orders?
A: No Custom Orders....sorry! *Please* don't ask me! It is hard saying no to so many nice people.
Q: How do I reserve a coat?
A: My shop is first come first serve. I will not reserve anything ahead of time. Every couple of weeks I post a big collection of coats in every shape and color combination. There is no waiting list - you just have to show up at the exact time and buy it. They tend to sell out in just a few minutes. You can see preview photos before each sale on my facebook page - www.katwise.com/facebook
Q:When is your next posting?
A: If you read my shop announcement or any listing, it will be mentioned at the very top.
Q:Do you do layaway?
A:Layaway got SOOOOO out of control that I am taking a break from it right now. Save your pennies, and your perfect coat will come along when you are ready. :-)
Q: Do you make plus sizes/childrens sizes/wool free/men's items etc.....?
A: I make all of the above except for children's coats. If you look at my albums on facebook you can see examples of the variety of things I offer. www.katwise.facebook.com
Q:How do I care for my sweater?
A: To be safe all items should be hand washed cold and dried flat. You can take a risk and throw it in the washer (I do) but there is always a possibility that wool will keep shrinking, so if you want to be 100% safe, hand wash! I will not be responsible for mishaps that occur in your washing machine.
Occasionally little threads work their way loose. Most of the time these can be pulled and snipped without consequence. If it looks like the sweater itself is getting frayed (a very rare but possible consequence of absolutely any sweater creation) you should remember the old saying: "a stitch in time saves nine".....
Q:Is that your crazy house in the pictures?
A:Yes! I call it "The House that Sweaters Built"...cuz y'all on Etsy helped me buy it!
Q:Will you marry me?
A: Maybe. :-)
