5 out of 5 starsThese are delightful and exactly as pictured. Fun and functional, quietly quirky on their own, or paired with other magical pieces, upside down or right side up, whilst doing cartwheels or picking flowers. A million options and the artist chose this unique combination which I can claim as my own. Legend! The sweet mermaid drawing on the package envelope made me grin all the way across my face. My friends have been calling me “the mermaid “ for years. The secret must be out.

Katwise Upcycled Sweater Coats
These are my original sweater designs which have evolved with much love over the past 20 years of my world wanderings. I make everything myself, in the attic of my rainbow colored house. I want you to wear one of my sweaters and feel comforted by the good intentions I tried to weave into it.
I hit the Etsy jackpot and my shop got crazy popular to the point where it is hard to keep up with demand. Now I have a big sweater sale once a month with about 50 new sweaters. If you would like to see previews of my upcoming sweaters, please check out my lively Facebook page. (www.katwise.com/facebook)
Between sales I sell my tutorials to teach you how to make your own Katwise style coats. Recycled sweater coats have become a bit of a trend here on etsy, and this shop is where it all started. Since my shop has gotten well known, lots of people on Etsy have started using my name "Katwise" on their listings, please don't mistake them for me!
For a dose of art and adventure (i do a lot more than just make sweaters!), I invite you to stroll around my website - WWW.KATWISE.COM.
*enjoy!*

Sweater Expressionist
I am Kat O'Sullivan - I make everything you see here all with my own 2 hands. I Make every cut, sew every stitch, pose awkwardly for every photo, and answer every message.... It keeps me busy!
Shop policies
Please keep in mind that each piece is one of a kind and made from recycled garments, so they may have a little more *character* than store bought, mass produced things. I do my best to choose quality knits, then reassemble them with with love and care. But these are handmade and often vintage items, so be prepared for the occasional charming imperfection.
Please join me on facebook for a peek at upcoming sweaters!

*INTERNATIONAL*
I have shipped my sweaters to every continent (even Antarctica!) Additional policies and FAQs
Q: Do you do custom orders?
A: No Custom Orders....sorry! *Please* don't ask me! It is hard saying no to so many nice people.
Q: How do I reserve a coat?
A: My shop is first come first serve. I will not reserve anything ahead of time. Every couple of weeks I post a big collection of coats in every shape and color combination. There is no waiting list - you just have to show up at the exact time and buy it. They tend to sell out in just a few minutes. You can see preview photos before each sale on my facebook page - www.katwise.com/facebook
Q:When is your next posting?
A: If you read my shop announcement or any listing, it will be mentioned at the very top.
Q:Do you do layaway?
A:Layaway got SOOOOO out of control that I am taking a break from it right now. Save your pennies, and your perfect coat will come along when you are ready. :-)
Q: Do you make plus sizes/childrens sizes/wool free/men's items etc.....?
A: I make all of the above except for children's coats. If you look at my albums on facebook you can see examples of the variety of things I offer. www.katwise.facebook.com
Q:How do I care for my sweater?
A: To be safe all items should be hand washed cold and dried flat. You can take a risk and throw it in the washer (I do) but there is always a possibility that wool will keep shrinking, so if you want to be 100% safe, hand wash! I will not be responsible for mishaps that occur in your washing machine.
Occasionally little threads work their way loose. Most of the time these can be pulled and snipped without consequence. If it looks like the sweater itself is getting frayed (a very rare but possible consequence of absolutely any sweater creation) you should remember the old saying: "a stitch in time saves nine".....
Q:Is that your crazy house in the pictures?
A:Yes! I call it "The House that Sweaters Built"...cuz y'all on Etsy helped me buy it!
Q:Will you marry me?
A: Maybe. :-)
