Shop policies

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read about my Shop Policies.

Gypsy Thicket Studio business hours are Monday-Friday, 9AM - 5PM Central Standard time, Monday through Friday. If you send me a convo or email, it will be answered during regular business hours.

25% of the proceeds from my shop go to support feral cat colonies in my home and studio area. Unfortunately, living in a semi-rural area means lots of "pet dumping", which leads to feral animals. I use a generous portion of my profits for TNR (trap, neuter, release) of feral cats as well as to provide them food and shelter year-round. I believe that all life is precious.

My jewelry and fiber art are my passion - I am proud to be able to offer you creations which express my love for all things natural. I only use conflict-free stones in my jewelry designs. I prefer natural fibers in my crochet designs unless it is impractical for the wearer, such as baby items and items for men.

My jewelry is crafted using sterling silver (.925 pure), fine silver (.999 pure), copper, bronze and brass. Fine silver is wonderful for people with metal allergies as it contains no alloys. Sterling, copper, bronze and brass contain alloys which can cause reactions in some people, so if you are not sure about your sensitivities, do not wear these metals for extended periods of time. I do use a jeweler's wax to finish my items, this produces a beautiful, tarnish-free luster which lasts through gentle wear. It is not a permanent sealer, however, so items made from silver, copper, brass and bronze will tarnish and develop a natural patina over time if not kept constantly polished or sealed. I feel that this patina is part of the natural beauty of these metals, however if you like the bright finish that your jewelry has when new, just be sure to keep a polishing cloth handy to use on your pieces at least once per week. I include a free mini Sunshine cloth with every purchase over $50 and they are also available for sale in my shop. For best results, please read the care instructions that come with your jewelry, they are also listed on my policies page.

My hats and other crocheted designs are high-quality, brand-new and have never been worn or tried on. If you have special fit requirements, just let me know and I will be happy to make a custom hat for you. Are you a cancer patient? I am happy to discuss custom options for your needs, just convo me.

Sizing Guidelines:
My adult hats are sized to fit men, women and teens with head circumference from 21" to 24". If your head is larger or smaller than this, you may need a custom hat. If your head is close to 24" and you do not want a snug fit, you may need a custom hat. Despite what is listed, I can make my beanies in any length, so if you want the All-Weather in a long length or the Winter Beanie in a short length, I can make it for you. Here are some details on my 2 main styles:

All-Weather Beanie:
This is an above-the-ear length (7" long) on heads over 22" and will cover the tip of the ears on heads 22" and under. I offer this in organic, hemp and regular cotton. It is an open, breathable stitch great for year-round wear. Great for ladies having a bad hair day or for guys with shaved heads to keep the breeze off.

Tight Stitch Winter Beanie:
Not just for winter, but for those wanting a tighter, knitted look. No holes, so it's nice & warm in the winter. Buy it in cotton for warmer weather breathability. This hat is made in 2 lengths: Short (above the ears) which is 7" long, or Long (covers ears) which is 8" long. I offer this in organic, hemp and regular cotton as well as a wool/acrylic blend for winter. Great for skiiers and skaters or just anyone wanting to keep their head warm. Follicly challenged? Try this hat in the shorter length for a polished, hip look that will cover your head year-round.

Vintage items:

All vintage items are previously owned unless otherwise noted and usually contain slight imperfections and wear as is normal with pre-loved treasures. Anything serious is noted in the listing.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I currently accept Paypal, Credit Cards and Etsy Gift Cards. Payment is respectfully requested at time of purchase. No personal checks, Western Union or other payment methods accepted.

When you complete your payment through Paypal PLEASE BE SURE to verify your address in their system because I use Paypal shipping. I am not responsible for items shipped to an old address that you failed to update. Also, if you are shipping to an address other than your own, be sure to make that change in Paypal as well.
Shipping
I ship 3 times a week for U.S. orders and once per week for International. Packages are shipped within 2 business days of payment and sent via USPS Priority Mail which arrives within 2-3 business days, I will email you with tracking information when your package is mailed. If you need it faster, let me know and I can upgrade your shipping for an additional charge. Insurance is not included unless requested and there is an additional charge for that service.

Shipping prices within the United States and some locations abroad are listed. Please contact me for shipping prices to other destinations. I am not responsible for customs charges when items are shipped to destinations outside the United States.

I combine shipping to save you money so if you buy more, you save more!
Refunds and Exchanges
Due to health reasons and the fact that hats and clothing are personal items, I do not accept returns on these items. I cannot re-sell a hat that someone else has worn and you would not want to buy one that someone else had tried on. Please consult my size guidelines to see if a hat will fit you before ordering. I will consider exchanges on a case-by-case basis, but WILL NOT pay for return postage. Depending on the circumstances there may be a charge for shipping a replacement item as well. Absolutely NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES on custom items.

Patterns/PDF files: I do not issue refunds on crochet patterns, so please make sure you are ordering the correct item. My listings describe skills required for all patterns but please note I am not responsible if it is beyond your level of expertise. Instant dowloads are available through Etsy. You MUST have a recent version of Adobe to download the pattern. If you have problems with the download I will be happy to email it to you. Also, hard copies of the pattern can be mailed for a small postage fee.

I also do not issue refunds if you purchase a pattern thinking that you are getting a finished item.

If for some reason you are not happy with your jewelry purchase, I gladly accept returns and exchanges as long as the item is sent back in original and unworn condition, original tags attached and within 7 business days from date of receipt. Due to the out of pocket expense involved, I do not accept returns or exchanges on custom designs.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please follow my care instructions for best results on your purchases:

To keep your crocheted items looking & fitting the way they arrived please follow these washing instructions: Hand wash with mild soap in cold water, squeeze excess water by rolling it up in a dry towel (do not wring it out), then lay it flat on another dry towel or sweater rack to air dry. This will prevent stretching & shrinkage.

Some shades/colors may show up differently on your monitor than mine, so please take this into account when ordering. I am happy to mail yarn samples if you are trying to get an exact color match, just convo me.

For jewelry:

With normal wear and proper care, your jewelry should last a lifetime or more. To care for strung necklaces and items made with leather, wipe with a soft microfiber cloth before and after wearing to clean off body oils. Do not immerse in water or jewelry cleaner as this may weaken the cord or damage the leather that the necklace is strung on. If heavier cleaning is required, a damp cloth may be used. Always apply perfume, makeup, lotion and hairspray BEFORE putting on your jewelry as the chemicals and residues in these products can harm the delicate composition of natural stones, especially pearls. Silver jewelry (pendants, bracelets and earrings) can be cleaned in a gentle jewelry cleaner. Fine silver is .999 pure and wonderful for people with metal allergies as there is no metal alloy added. Bronze, copper and brass all contain alloys which may cause allergic reactions in some people. For that reason I do finish my pieces with a special protective jeweler's wax which provides a barrier between the skin and the metal. Soaking in jewelry cleaner or repeated washing with soap WILL remove this coating, so please use a microfiber cloth only to clean these metals. Do not wash hands with your rings on or bathe/shower with your jewelry on. Scrubbing or using harsh detergents may remove background antiquing or patina on your piece, so please be gentle. Accidents do happen however, so if your jewelry becomes damaged or needs to be re-antiqued, please contact me as I can professionallly restore it for you for a very small fee. To recoat brass, copper and bronze jewelry with a protective finish yourself (easy to do!), I recommend using a product called Renaissance Wax, which is available for purchase through Amazon.
