My second order from this shop; this shirt had been on my favorites list for awhile. This is such a great shirt! :) Can't wait to see more in the future!
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
For as long as I can remember, working with my hands is what has kept my brain sharp. If I'm forced to sit still, my mind wanders. If my hands are empty, I want to fill them. This is what led me to my sewing machine and what keeps me going through the deadlines and hardships of owning a business. There is nothing else I can imagine myself doing where my heart is more satisfied. I love the sound of the needle bouncing through cotton. I love the crisp edge of freshly cut fabric. I love the moment the piece is turned out, after the zipper is installed, and the way packages ready for the post office stack so neatly.
What I do makes me happy and I could not do it without you. You! You let me do what I love and I can not thank you enough. Everything you order is made with my grateful hands. Thank you for supporting my business. Thank you for making it possible for me to work, using my talents, and satisfying my heart.
“Once you decide on your occupation you must emmerse yourself in your work.
You have to fall in love with your work.
Never complain about your job.
You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill.
That’s the secret to success and is the key to being regarded honorably.”
— JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI
Once I began sewing, I found it hard to stop. It was 2009. I had just married and moved into a tiny apartment in downtown State College, PA. We were basically crammed into a 280 sqft hallway, divided into a "bedroom", "kitchen" and a "living room". I brought home a sewing machine that my parents had given me in high school and placed it on the bar in our kitchen. We had a fold up dining table in our living room, which became my cutting table, and a dresser in our bedroom where I began to pile my sewing supplies. I was all over the place. We both were so smothered by my new fledged business and we fought about it all the time. And yet, I knew I couldn't give it up, and my husband held me to that on the days I thought I could. That first year in the dark hole of an apartment, I sewed every day. I watched videos, explored blogs, read books, deconstructed clothing from thrift stores and soaked up every ounce of knowledge I could about how to make clothing. It was a hard year, but it shaped me.
The years that have followed have been spent in larger places; we rent only 2 bedroom places now. We've lived in Pennsylvania, California and Kentucky and my job has come with us to every new home. In each place I continue to grow in my knowledge of construction and I pursue perfection with each and every piece I make.

Likes to climb, vacuum and be held. Really good at drinking hose water. Not very good at sewing.
