From Studio-Mates to Design Partners

We met in 2008 as first year MFA candidates at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. At the time, we thought we were simply destined to just be studio mates . . .

A year into our program, we were asked to collaborate together to design & screen print textiles for a couple of showroom apartments (3rd and Bond) in Brooklyn. Pratt alumni & students were outfitting the "mock" apartments, and we were honored to be asked to perform such a task. There was only one problem, we had never before printed on fabric!

We dove into the project and before we knew it, we were elbow deep in custom orders. We loved it and thought, we should keep this good thing going.

The birth of Kaye Rachelle Designs officially began upon graduating from Pratt in 2010. With Bonnie relocating to Philadelphia, there were lots of kinks to work out in order to not let distance take a toll. But after almost 3 years, thanks to Dropbox, Gchat, Pinterest, Wunderlist, Google Drive (oh the list could go on & on) and face-to-face meetings at markets and in NYC, we continue to build Kaye Rachelle from the ground up.

We thank our supportive family, friends, & pets - as well as consumers like yourself - that choose to support independent artists and the local economy. You make our hands (and our heart) very happy.
