Colourful Jewellery to brighten your mood!

I have always loved big, bold, bright statement earrings, I’d be drawn to them calling my name from across a shop and have to buy them - quite often the starting point for an outfit would the earrings - the wrong way round perhaps!!

But more often than not, they’d be in my handbag after half an hour because the weight made them so uncomfortable. I saw polymer clay on a craft programme on telly and vaguely remembered having some as a child - I think I made a terrible pig! They talked about the various things you could make and how lightweight it was, so I decided I’d give it a go and try to make myself some jewellery.

I watched some You Tube tutorials and played around, the first few makes were a bit hit and miss, but before long I was getting the hang of it. I loved all the possibilities with colour and pattern and I was hooked on the making, but most importantly I was amazed by the comfort. I discovered that I could make really big, bold pieces but with virtually no weight - game changer!

Before long I was building up quite a collection and then lockdown hit! I found myself using crafting not only to pass the time, but also as a kind of therapy to take my mind off things - so the collection grew & grew.

Although it was really scary, I decided I’d try to sell a few pieces and set up my Etsy shop - I haven’t looked back! The thrill I got from making my first sale was amazing, such a warm and happy feeling that someone liked something I made - that feeling hasn’t gone away and I feel it for every single sale!

I truly believe that colour has the ability to lift not only your outfit but also your mood! I am a complete colour and pattern magpie and I let that love run wild and free in my makes - I don’t make anything that I don’t want to keep for myself (makers perks!).

I hope that my jewellery makes the wearer feel brighter & lighter!

I really love working with polymer clay, the colours are so vibrant, the material is so lightweight, there’s zero waste & the design possibilities are endless!! I started out making bespoke pieces for myself and couldn’t stop - so began Kay Jay Clay!
