I absolutely loved this reading. I must say, for a 1 card spread, there really was a lot of information. Kellie answered my question in a caring and thoughtful way and it was so insightful. The reading was certainly accurate and also has given me confidence in areas where I was feeling unsure. Thank you so much! x

About

Designer Extraordinaire of Dimensional Paper Couture and Mixed Media Art

My loving, only sister calls me Kell Belle. I thought the name Kell Belle Studio felt like a perfectly natural way to begin breathing life into a shoppe about paper art and personally infuse it with a little bit of me.

I've been creating dimensional paper art forms for many years and it has only been in the last 5 years that I began creating paper dresses, forms and corsets. What is it about paper fashion that calls to me emotionally and makes me create? I think I would have to say I create because it is a way to transcend time, practicality and social norms. It's a way for me to reinvent myself and be someone completely different. Through my paper art I can be anything or anywhere I want. I can imagine myself a gypsy living life in a bygone age as a vaudeville entertainer or I can be an uptown socialite living on Park Avenue today.

Although I have an AA degree in visual communications, I am entirely self taught in the creation of dimensional paper art. Some of my skill comes from techniques learned by reading books but most of my skill comes from an inner willingness to try new things and lots and lots of trial and error.

I approach the creation of my paper couture as a seamstress would. Since some of my work is designed and planned using graphics programs on the computer, I also approach my work from a graphic design perspective. If it isn't perfect and up to my standard of excellence, I won't sell it. Every seam and edge has to have a polished, finished look. If it doesn't then the reason is usually because I wanted a tattered look in the finished piece to begin with, which is often the case with my corsets. These are intentionally designed to have a tattered, edgy look to them as opposed to my dresses which have a cleaner, more crisp look to them.

I generally like to use acid free papers and/or the highest quality of paper I can find in order to ensure your art will stand the test of time. This won't always be the case and that's because I don't want to limit the creative process simply because the paper I chose likely won't last 100 years. Then again, neither will we but only time will tell for sure. :)

The papers I use in my work depend a lot on the look I am going for. Thinners papers are more easily manipulated and give an airy, more delicate look, while thicker papers are more rigid and best used as the foundation of the piece. I am happy to answer questions about materials should you have any so feel free to drop a note.

Creating art is an emotional expression of the things I love most in life. Flowing, organic shapes found in nature and the geometrics of man made objects are a repeated theme in my work. I love bright colors, aged vintage, and crisp, clean style.
