Flameworked glass beads and jewelry

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida · 20 Sales

Announcement   All my glass beads are lovingly crafted, kiln annealed and cleaned by me in my Florida studio. I then pair them with sterling silver or bead weaving. I strive to create high quality, one of a kind jewelry that feels as good as it looks.

I start with Italian or American made glass, adding furnace glass, fine silver or goldstone for effects and use gravity or a hand press for shaping. Each bead goes directly into a hot kiln to anneal giving a piece that will (with proper care) last for generations.

Please feel free to contact me by convo with any questions. I do guarantee my work.

Thank you,
Kelley

About

Melting Glass

I love color, abstract art and all things tiny. The first time I melted glass was like an awakening. Then, twirling molten glass around little steel rods became an addiction.

I've been making glass beads since 2009. I made my first bead at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY and fell in love. I was fortunate to live in Rochester, NY at that time, and there were a handful of glass artists there, and a couple of studios. I took two lessons, then bought my own torch, glass, tools and kiln and haven't stopped experimenting since.

When I sit at the torch, I always begin with "what if". What if I mixed these two colors together? What if I added silver or dichroic glass to this bead? What if I could make murrene that look like peacock feathers? What if I spread this scene across multiple beads? I hope I never run out of questions,

Once each bead is made in my South Florida studio, I place it in a hot kiln to anneal -to cool slowly over time. Once cooled, I then inspect, clean and add sterling silver to make a pendant or incorporate them into a piece of jewelry. Some I sell as is to other artists to use in their creations.

I don't list everything I make here, so if you are looking for something in particular, or if you want to commission a piece, please convo me. Maybe together we can create something beautiful.

I've loved glass since I was little. In 2009, I made my first bead at the Corning Museum of glass and fell in love. I still have that bead. I took two lessons, then bought my own torch, tools, glass and kiln, and haven't stopped experimenting since.
