Hi, I’m Kelsy Renee Schumacher and I’m a self taught fibre artist residing in Calgary, Alberta. Expressing myself through art is always something I’ve done, whether through the clothes I wear, my interior design style, the music I listen to and the things I create. My love for everything artistic runs deep with my Oma’s modern flare for interior design and art collection, My Opa’s stunning lapidary creations, My Grandmother’s soft watercolours and my Mother’s singing voice and gardens. I grew up sketching and creating collages, taking photos, making braided jewlery, dabbled in water colours and took Acrylics 101 at UofS where my final was one of the chosen to be shown in the university gallery for a 3 month term. I turned to fibre as a new way of expressing myself and wanting something truly intriguing for my own living room. I adore the conversation surrounding art and the feelings it can evoke when one sinks into it. I’ve been honing my macrame my skill of Macrame, developing my own style/brand and scaling my small business for 3+ years now.

KRS pieces are primarily made from organic cotton cord, wooden beads and a wooden dowel. These elements create a grounding piece of art that brings intrigue, fresh life and joy to a space. I not only create full organic off white pieces, but have introduced many new colours and explored pairing unique colour combinations in my newest collection that will be released Spring 2022.
