About

Honoring and Keeping a Family Tradition

Hudson Mercantile was founded by my Grandparents, George & Ruby Kennedy in the early 1980's. After decades of collecting American Indian art of the Southwest my Grandparents decided to come out of retirement and open their own shop. George and his sons had a background in carpentry, so they build an Santa Fe style stucco building in the small town of Hudson, 30 miles north of Denver, Colorado. The building is now the town library but we use the facade in our Etsy banner to pay tribute to the beginning. Inside this building Ruby stocked vintage Americana like Shawnee cookie jars and kitchen items while George ran a saddle shop and sold tools. Together they sold Native American art, which took up a bulk of the shop. Ruby loved the jewelry and often dripped with silver, turquoise, and carved bird fetish necklaces. George loved Navajo textiles, Apache baskets, and jewelry too. He wears a 14k solid gold bracelet by famous Zuni makers Robert and Bernice Leekya to this day. They had a 6 foot tall antique safe in the back that held George's collection of 14k Gold vintage mechanical watches and the rest of their treasures each night. In that tradition I offer you Hudson Mercantile in Ruby & George's honor.

Shop policies

Last updated on March 2, 2011
I want to be a different kind of antique/vintage dealer. I pride myself on integrity and I want to provide my customers with great items and a pleasant customer service experience. This is a family business for me as I am following in my Grandfather's footsteps and I want to honor his and my name.

I love all things with age, character & beauty. I was raised in a home more closely associated with a museum due to my family's history of collecting Art, American Indian wares of many kinds, Quarter-sawn Oak furniture, Persian rugs, glassware and silver. I am committed to providing unique jewelry and decorator items of quality that people would love to have in their homes and pass on to their families as heirlooms. I hope that you enjoy what I have to offer!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Other Method
Payment
Paypal is best if and I can take your Credit Card info directly by phone if you do not want to or are not able to use the Paypal system. Cash is also welcome if you are a local customer but I am required to charge state Sales Tax.

I will accept US Postal Service Money orders only and NEVER Western Union due to the widespread problems with forged money orders we see now days.
Shipping
I ship using US Postal Service Priority Insured services with delivery confirmation but I am happy to allow you to choose your own trusted carrier for the actual cost (or ship on your account for what it costs you privately). I will not ship without delivery confirmation.

I will be glad to ship internationally but I cannot provide tracking on these packages without an extra fee to be paid by the buyer as this service is very expensive (usually minimum $30). I will describe my items correctly to comply with customs rules of your country.

I ship the same or next day after your purchase and pledge to get your item to you quickly, safely and well packaged.

Local pickups are welcome as well!
Refunds and Exchanges
I will accept returns on any item if I have failed to describe an item accurately but as I deal in vintage and antique items I will not be able to guarantee that your item will remain in the condition in which I sold it after shipment.

Watches are particularly this way and I will be happy to help you find a good local watchmaker to service your item if you do run into troubles and I will work with you on a return if still not satisfied.
