"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Pablo Picasso

My artwork is also featured by Crate and Barrel, Chemer's Gallery and Ugallery.

How to describe in words something as meaningful to me as art? One of the very reasons I paint is just for the very reason that I cannot put the things I see and feel into words.

From the earliest remembrances from my waking up in this world, I have been in the Pacific Northwest. Cold rushes of fresh air, light reflected in puddles. trees roaring in the wind, colored leaves dancing along on the breeze, the wild untamable, gray Pacific ocean. these have been the voices that have always called to me outside my own little child mind and called me to something bigger and greater than myself. Glorious beauty is this little section of the world. I am so unspeakably grateful that when God decided to put me down in some little corner of this great blue planet, He chose Oregon.

But as might as the voice of nature is, there is something even beyond that. The ocean is magnificent, but it will very easily kill you if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. And it will not remember you, it will have no remorse, it will simply roll on as before.

Therefore, I cannot find meaning simply in nature. There is something beyond it. Humanity has a capacity for reflection, generosity, benevolence, pity, forgiveness. This is beyond the natural world. Since the invention of the camera, the painter has been freed from the duty to replicate that which we see in the world only with the eye, and to explore the interior thought life of the heart.

This two ideas, the natural world and the inner contemplative world in my head, these two things are the forces behind me that compel me to paint. They are what sing "Glory" in my heart.
