About

Handcrafted jewelry showcasing natural gemstones, made in Vermont

I have always loved natural crystals and gemstones. I've been collecting crystals and mineral specimens since grade school and swooning over the gem and mineral room at any museum I've visited. I started making jewelry in 1996 (mostly beading and wrapping crystal points with hemp) but didn't start using higher quality stones and solid sterling silver until around 2006. I did a lot of traveling all over the country in my 20's and the first time I saw Vermont I knew I was going to come back to stay. I make my jewelry in front of a window that looks out at tall pine trees and a huge old Maple. Our yard borders a state park forest, separated by a tiny narrow creek. We get lots of animal visitors... we have a family of wild turkeys who stop by every day to check out the bird feeders, deer come by to eat the apples that fall off our tree, sometimes coyotes can be heard howling at night, there's evidence of marauding fishercats (aggressive weasels) in the neighborhood, and even bobcats and black bear! Still haven't seen a moose yet though!

Thank you so very much for browsing my shop and if you have any questions or are interested in a custom project please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I've always been drawn to gems and minerals and I hope that love shines through. My goal is to create carefully crafted jewelry, with quality materials, that showcases these amazingly beautiful stones. Each piece is handmade by me here in Vermont.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing Details

Measurements are provided to determine size and fit. Hand photos help convey a sense of scale, but since people all have different size hands please use the measurements to determine the actual size. Mannequin photos show how a necklace *hangs* not how it might fit you; since people are all different sizes please use the measurements to determine personal fit. A good way to get a sense of length is to measure a necklace you already have, or a piece of string. Please feel welcome to contact me with any questions

Alterations

If you would like something altered to fit you better please contact me to inquire before you purchase. I won't necessarily be able to accommodate redesign requests but it doesn't hurt to ask. Alterations will add cost based on materials needed and labor involved. Jewelry altered for your custom request may not be returnable for a full refund. Or, instead of requesting a custom alteration, you may consider purchasing a removable necklace extender instead; check my shop or contact me for availability.

Processing / Rush Processing

If your order needs rush processing please be sure to mention that at checkout and I will do my best to accommodate your special request. Typically, orders are shipped within 1-3 business days. During December I try to get everything in the mail the same or next business day. Please be aware that alteration requests may delay shipping.

What is Goldfill? Is it the same as cheap Gold Vermeil?

Goldfill is a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by sheets of solid gold. Goldfill is much higher quality than gold vermeil or gold plated metals; it's the next best thing to solid gold but much more affordable. With Goldfill, the outer layer of solid gold is much thicker than with gold vermeil or gold plate.

Gift boxes

If you would like a gift box for your purchase please request one in the Notes To Seller box during checkout. I often include a box, but not always, so if you definitely want one please be sure to request one at checkout. Also if you definitely don't want a gift box you're welcome to mention that too and I'll send your jewelry wrapped in bubble wrap instead (and save the box from a landfill) :)

Caring for Handmade Jewelry

With proper care and consideration, handmade jewelry will last for many years to come. Natural gemstone beads used in handmade jewelry are not typically treated/sealed as stones may be in mass produced jewelry. When unsealed, porous gems such a Opal, Pearl and Turquoise can be sensitive to their environment. This is normal; it's not a defect of the stones or the jewelry. Avoid exposure to things like lotion, hairspray, perfume, chemicals, sweat, oil, etc, and avoid wearing while swimming, exercising, bathing, etc. Exposure to such elements can cause discoloration in natural unsealed stones. Again this is not a defect, it is the nature of natural stones. With proper care and consideration, handmade jewelry will last for years to come.

International Shipping, VAT/GST Fees

Fees such as import duties, taxes, VAT, GST, etc, are not included. I have no knowledge of, nor control over these fees. These fees are between you and your government and are not included in your purchase from me.
