The End of Grad School Was Just The Beginning

[The Story of Kette, as would be told by the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air]

Now this is a story all about how
My shop got flipped turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit yourself down
And I'll tell you how my new shop finally came around

In west Philadelphia, morning and night
In the lab where I was spending most of my time
Studying the intricacies of nanoscale things
While secretly thinking of new forms of bling

But I was constantly running into a design rut
Plus Etsy fees were hitting me in the gut
So I waited till after my PhD
To solidify my style and truly figure out me

I love beads and gems, and most of all chains
So Kette worked out as a nice, German name
And represents the connections to the random things
That inspire my necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings

So if you are a smarty and you got some flair
And you want to look good but still like you don't care
Then come see my shop and hopefully you will find
A perfect piece designed with you in mind

Lisa studied Materials Science and Engineering, not only because she wanted to be in an exciting field that could do good for the world, but also because she got to learn about the structure and properties of bling.

Hello and welcome to ...KETTE...! This shop is a one-woman show, and each piece has been made with dedication and care.

The name of the store comes from the German word for "chain", as it is not only a favorite starting point for many of my pieces but also represents the connection between the different elements that inspire my designs, including the 90's, Materials Science, nature, and grad school. I am always juggling many roles at once, and I love having versatile outfit pieces that can transition with me through the different arenas of scholar, dance instructor, karaoke fanatic, etc.; the hats may change, but the bling stays the same.

I hope you find something you like, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Returns and exchanges
I do my best to make sure my pictures reflect the quality and physical characteristics as I perceive them in my own hands, but monitors vary and beauty is subjective. Therefore, if you are unhappy with your purchase or just simply changed your mind after the order has been shipped, please contact me via conversations to let me know within 7 days of receipt of the item. Once I receive the item in its original condition, I will gladly refund the purchase price. Shipping will be at the customer's expense.

If for some reason I made a mistake or the item arrived damaged, please contact me via conversations. The resolution may vary on a case-by-case basis but will usually follow these general guidelines:

- For wrong items: I will cover return postage, and the correct item will be shipped out to you for free.

- For damaged items: I will either ship out the correct item to you for free or refund the purchase price and associated shipping cost.

When in doubt, please contact me! I am here to help!
Payments via PayPal and Direct Checkout (credit cards) and in the form of Etsy gift cards are accepted.

For orders received by 9pm, I usually prepare to ship them by 9am the following day; therefore, in most situations, there is at least a 12-hour long period where orders can be canceled. In general, if you cancel your order before I ship the item out, the full payment including shipping fees will be returned to you.
PLEASE CHECK SHOP ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HIATUS ANNOUNCEMENTS. I will usually specify the start and end dates, before and after which, the normal business practices are as follows:

In-stock items will ship within 1-2 business days (including the occasional Saturday) of receiving payment. Custom or unstocked items could take up to a week to prepare before shipping out, but in most cases will not require more than an extra 1-2 days.

I ship mainly through USPS First Class, but expedited options are available. Tracking numbers will be provided for all packages and sent to you via email as soon as the item ships.

All jewelry items (a ring set counts as a single item) will arrive in individual cotton-filled cardboard jewelry boxes tied up with string (to prevent opening during transit); additionally, most items will additionally be wrapped in tissue paper, and the more fragile ones will include a drawstring bag for storage with other jewelry. Smaller orders will be shipped safely in a bubble mailer, whereas larger orders will be shipped in rigid mailing boxes.

At this point, I do not ship internationally, because I need to do more research into this arena, but things could change in the near future. If I had things my way, I'd just fly out to your country and hand your items over in person, but I might need to make a few (thousand) sales before I could do that.
