Announcement   Hallooo! I live & paint betwixt land and a 29' sailboat. When grounded or anchored I make whimsical mini enamel paintings. Each piece is made directly onto the metal - no paper prints glued in place. They are super individual, with tiny brushstrokes.

This fall I will be painting September & October, then late November up until Christmas. After that we are off on an extremely unpredictable adventure!
www.kharaledonne.com/sea-blog/

Custom orders take 1-2 weeks, and are 15-30% more than shop prices, depending on complexity. I can paint 6-8 custom pieces per week, and they tend to be booked out 2-4 weeks.

Here is an excellent video that my penpal made about the process!: http://vimeo.com/109888849
And a vunderful Etsy feature:

Thank you so much for the incredible stories and support.
Love,
Khara

Khara is so lovely, and immensely talented. She responds to messages quickly, and keeps you updated on how things are developing. Her pieces are unbelievably detailed, and even more amazing in person. I am already planning on buying more pieces as gifts for friends and family. I'm so glad I found her shop!

Now THIS little beauty is why Etsy is so fantastic. How would I ever have found this joyful object created by this lovely artisan were it not for Etsy? When I opened my package, very beautifully wrapped, I gasped with pleasure when I saw how very lovely it is. Thank you so much for creating this little item to spark joy. Love it, love it, love it. Buy from this artist with total confidence; you will receive something special. :)

Inspired by all our time on the water recently. Someone said it looks like a whale swimming past the portholes of a boat under water. Isn't that a wonderful way to see it?

My first little lighthouse inspired by our inaugural sail. In spite of the bleariness of seasickness, you betcha I still got a good look at those wonderful structures.

About

Daydreams in a Nutshell

These things are important!
These daydreams.
So many voices tell us to straighten up, work hard, cut the fat and focus. Maybe it's true, but I stand for the little voice that tells you to take a nap, stare at the clouds and think about your favorite things.
I get to make mini escapes. The place you want to go instead of where you are. The capsule of fresh air that can be worn around your neck and taken wherever you go, or even given to someone who needs it more than you. Nostalgic landscapes, spirit animals, inside jokes: this is the good stuff that reminds you why you are you, and nobody else.

See my process and how it all works in this sweet little video: http://vimeo.com/109888849
(copy + paste in a new window and it'll pop right up)

For fifteen years I've been mucking about with paint, usually on great big walls and windows. Miniatures crept in so sneakily, an experimentation at most. My eyes were terrible; hands were shaky. Over time it came more naturally, and my eyes even got better; no kidding! Now it looks like Santa's workshop around here, with me curled over my little elf table, holding my breath for the perfect brushstroke. Everything is tiny and beautiful, and everyday I am amazed that I get to create so many miniature masterpieces to sustain myself and others.
